Franchise anchor players only come through the draft every few years, guys that you can build around for a decade or more. Providing you don’t run them off.

That’s something Cleveland knows all to well.

Which is why they should know New Orleans were never going to trade the No. 1 overall pick and the rights to Anthony Davis. But it never hurts to ask, right? From Chad Ford at ESPN.

Sources say the Cavs offered (the Hornets the) No. 4, No. 24, No. 33 and No. 34 for No. 1. And sources said the Cavs got a firm and quick “No!”

Hey, Dan Gilbert — good job, good effort.

No way that is good enough. This is not the NFL draft where you have to have 50 guys around, you play 9 most nights. Which means that in five years odds say at least two of the three guys picked at 24, 33 and 34 will be out of the league. It’s the cold hard truth. You don’t trade a franchise changing player for that. ]

:lol Basically 1st pick for 4th pick and a bunch of late draft projects the Hornets don't have time to work on.

In this draft you wouldn't trade the #1 for the #2 and #3 together.

Still, never hurts to ask.

Still though, even in this draft, their picks are better than all Morey's assets combined. :lol

What if everyone skips on that unibrow dude and he goes 4th?

That would only happen if Jordan owned the top 3 picks

Is Dan Gilbert that desperate and delusional to not realize what he's offering and blantanly garbage and down right insulting?

It might be a PR move for the folks back home. "See, we're trying!"

The cavs should be fined for requesting such a pathetic trade

I wonder if the Hornets would consider Irving + #4

Almost like asking if the 76ers give up Iverson + #2 for Duncan in 1997. In hindsight it would have been a good trade, but this draft is way better than '97

Some posters on here are retarded as fuck suggesting a 4th + Irving.

Irving is one of the few NBA players worth more than Davis right now. Davis has bust chance while Irving is already locked to be an all-star+.

Durant
Bron
Irving
Dwight
Possibly Wade and CP3

ROFL, that's a horrible offer. It's basically Bradley Beal or Andre Drummond for Unibrow.

I don't. Miami will have a legit shot at the title every year for the foreseeable future. Cleveland will not.

if they offer included 2, rather than one lottery picks then it'd be worth a bit of thinking. 2 lottery drafts would be pretty luscious in such a stacked year, while the non-lottery ones ain't even nearly as valuable imho
