What breed(s) do you currently own? Is it house trained? How many dogs do you own? Are the indoor? What kind/brand of dog food do you feed it? Blah blah blah

I own two dogs, about to be three in a couple of weeks. Breeds are German Shepherd and Golden Retriever. Third dog will be a 2 month old black Labrador retriever.

Both of my dogs are a little over 1 year...I got them both one week apart from each other.

The protective instincts of my GSD have rubbed off on the Golden Retriever :lol. It's hilarious to see tbh.

Both are indoor dogs and it took me a little over two weeks to housetrain both. I am about to put them into this hunting training program for the summer. I feed them Innova hard food. I'll upload pics later when I have access to a desktop or laptop.

Shouldn't your first question be, do you have a dog? :lol

I dont, not looking to get one, never will get one again.

I had a dog named Benji when I was around 8-9. His end was not pretty. So sad.

Well not really. I mean if someone clicks this thread, one would think they have a dog to begin with. But I get your point.

What happened to him? And why wouldn't you get another?

Dont know the full details but he got sick or something. Got sent to some relatives.

The next time I saw him he was in terrible shape, had one messed up leg and was on his last breath it seem.

Apparently my parents sent him away to die. I still get upset with my parents for doing that shit.

And for the other question, I just dont have the time anymore. That and they dont allow pets on my building so yeah, that's that.

Well go make your own dog thread if you think that should be the question.

See my response to shadowflames's first post and you get the answer to your question.

i have a smooth collie and a bullmastiff. going to get a rott after the bullmastiff passes though. great dogs, they are just too stubborn and not very trainable. rottweilers are very similar except much more obedient.

Got a Schnauzer named Jonah. Terrific dog other than how much he barks, which is a common trait for the breed.

Last dog we had was a Norwegian Elkhound. Big damn dog - weighed over 100 lbs, although they're normally closer to German Shepherd size. Bred for hunting moose and bear. He was a great family dog, wonderful with the kids, but sometimes overly protective of the house. Didn't like other dogs or strangers much.

That was a few years ago. We've been considering getting another dog recently (a nice MEDIUM-SIZED dog), but when he died it broke my heart so I'm hesitant.

Just lost my 18 year old mix a couple of months ago. Got her in my early 20's when I was single so she'd been with me through dating, marriage, kids, parents passing. Probably the one constant thing through those years. Really tough.

I have a 3.5 month old male Great Dane. He is house trained for the most part, occasionally he has an accident although they are getting a lot more infrequent. He is our only dog and stays indoors.

Great Danes are tough to feed, due to the fact that they grow tremendously fast. It is detrimental to a GD puppy to feed them normal puppy food, as it has way too much protein and can cause bone/muscle problems for them. We feed Marlin Blue Buffalo Freedom

I have a GSD, he just turned 2..I wasn't a dog fan at the time, while my girl is an avid dog owner(she works in the field, too), so she convinced me..I was converted, pretty easily, tbh..

He was house trained quickly, only had a few accidents..he's smart as fuck, he learns everything quickly..he's one of the biggest GSDs I have ever seen, tbh, and we hear about it from strangers at virtually any park we visit:lol..

Unfortunately, he has even worse social issues than the typical GSD, particularly with protecting his territory..he has improved immensely in the past year, though..being self-employed has aided in his training and overall improvement, he has a nice temperament..

He's currently a 100 lbs, he's still lanky, though, he'll probably peak at 115-120, based on the size of his parents..

First pic is at 4 months, the other 2 are at 1.5 years old..he isn't nearly as big as the 2nd pic, but I enjoy how it turned out:lol..

i'm a bit weary of german shepherds tbh..too many unstable bloodlines due to rampant backyard breeding. can't stand those ones you can't trust to not fucking randomly flip out and bite someone everytime you have company. like many other breeds, they SHOULD be great dogs but too many dumbasses have bred and owned them over the years.

I was very selective when I picked my GS because of those concerns. Many GS breeders in my area are subpar in that they don't ensure the utmost temperament. These temperamental inadequacies range from lack of socialization with humans/other animals, lack of order in household (Alpha is not identified leading to more aggressive GS), and not having a firm hand on your GS in its puppy years.

As you can tell though, those reasons all have something in common with regard to the underlying root of all problems: a shitty/coward owner.

I wasn't alone in raising my GS, and I have my family to thank for that.

Also be careful with bloat when feeding with the Great Danes. My mom has lost two to it and it can happen very quickly.
