They haven't really been in my geek purview until recently. I didn't play them much as a kid, because historically, board game birthday gifts were reserved for the pile of shit to make fun of later with people who knew you better. Sometimes I'd pick up a cheap, old board game from a thrift store, yard sale or dead relative's house, but most of them were too weird, weathered, and incomplete to do much with. I've been trying some strategy games out lately - namely the Arkham Horror brand (being a fan of most things Lovecraft). Anyone have any modern/classics they play?

Some stuff I'm a fan of:
Strategy games - Arkham Horror, Mansions of Madness
Party games - Cards Against Humanity, Apples to Apples, Cranium
Classics - Fireball Island
