Not making the playoffs or getting knocked out of the playoffs is a bummer. It causes depression. People who are depressed and have a lot of money eat and drink a lot. People who eat and drink a lot get fat.
Winning the championship makes a player happy and fulfilled. It causes elation. Elation causes lots of parties. People who party a lot eat and drink a lot. NBA champions get fat and happy.
So although it is clear that nearly all NBA players will get fatter this summer, the question is, who will roll into training camp fattest and why?
Let the summer buffet begin!

Eddy Curry has no reason to pretend he cares about staying in game shape now that he's got a championship ring. Dude already weighs 295, and could easily pack on another 30 pounds over the summer.

You're an idiot. This will be his 2nd consecutive healthy offseason. That means he's working out and honing his skills instead of rehabbing. I'm looking forward to him improving on his 18 ppg, 11rpg, 2 bpg breakout season. If it doesn't happen it won't be because he is fat. :nope

bynum would be even more of a beast if he gains abit more weight imho. a bynum weighing 300lbs would dominate like shaq did, just hope his knees work out fine under the extra pressure

Yeah...it's a new NBA stat... :lol
Bynum stayed healthy because of subtle changes to his playing style tbh
Instead of running on his heels, which basically strained his feet, he's practically tiptoeing now.

He seems to excel at finesse, as long as he keeps his head cool that is.

The short NBA summer is only a small taste of how bad things can get after an NBA career ends. This is what happens after retiring from the NBA when you stop exercising completely and are no longer burning 3,000 calories a day but are still used to eating and partying all the time. It ain't pretty.

I think you have a point, however, many of these NBA doods are uneducated and were raised on crappy processed food and fast food. As such, despite their wealth, they often revert back to old ways for comfort and thus balloon into some of the abominations of nature that we've become accustomed to seeing during the offseason.
