As long as RC stays out of the drunk tank, we're fine.

Ferry is extra help. I think they created his position after Cleveland fired him. Dennis Lindsey is a waste, and I can't wait until he finally leaves.

There are a lot of rumors, but so far, only Ferry seems to be moving on. I think Lindsey pulled out at the last minute from several jobs last summer. Hopefully, he follows through this year.

Why do we hate Lindsey?

Why do we hate Lindsey?

Scola, mostly, among other blunders that probably aren't entirely his fault. And the fact that the Spurs have won zero championships since he joined the ship.

Damn, the Hawks offered Ferry a six-year deal. I can't imagine he can turn that down even though Hawks ownership is flaky.

Just hoping he doesn't throw a ton of money at Danny Green since Green was his find in the first place.

You have probably said elsewhere, but what would you pay him and what kind of offers do you expect to see from other teams?

Danny was Mickey mouse at Cleveland, how does this guy keep getting work

The hawks are an absolute mess.
Unless he has carte blanche to blow the team up, he won't last long (of course he will make some nice change)

Well, that didn't take long: with Atlanta GM Danny Ferry in his first day on the job, the message is spreading that he'll be looking to shake up the Hawks' roster and rebuild in some capacity. No specifics yet, but forward Josh Smith has tremendous value and an expiring contract (next season at $13.2 million), center Al Horford will be healthy again and is an attractive piece as well (four years, $48 million remaining) and shooting guard Joe Johnson has the sort of deal that any sane GM would try - and likely try in vain - to get rid of (four years and $89.3 million left).

Meanwhile, Spurs likely to handle Danny Ferry's departure to Atlanta 4 Pres/GM gig internally among its remaining front office personnel.

Pres/Sports F'chises R.C. Buford & asst GM Dennis Lindsey 2 take most of Ferry's duties. Ex player Sean Marks also being groomed 4 mgmt role

I forget about Sean Marks. Does anyone know if he has any aptitude?

It's funny how a lot off former players are still involved in San Antonio.

First Ferry, then Marks. Isn't Jacque Vaughn also on Pop's coaching staff?

Man ferry inherited a shitty cap situation. The joe Johnson contract alone will limit what he can do. That is Kobe in his prime money! I mean, that price of shit is worse than Eric Dampier's deal from back in the day.

It might be worth it to amnesty JJ. Either way, you're stuck paying him, but with him off the cap, you can actually improve and rebuild.

the ownership as recently as the last year was trying to sell the team. what makes you think they would happily absorb the 120 million contract loss?

shouldve traded his ass for rashard lewis who was expiring, wouldve helped them get rid of a contract short term quick fix

once you amensty someone doesnt the other team pay offer
i could see johnson getting around 8-10 mil still if teams are bidding on him
then atl only has to pay 9 of the 19 mil right

The remainder is about $88M, minus what some other team claims him for, which could be between 30 and 40M. If you keep him, you're on the hook for the whole thing, and your rebuilding is delayed 4 years by his horrendous cap figure.
