ESPN has confirmed that the Texas Tech-Texas State game on Saturday,
Sept. 8 will be shown on ESPN3. The game will kickoff at 6:00 p.m. CT.
The game will mark the first game in the new Bobcat Stadium.

The WAC earlier this month released its ESPN schedule for the 2012
football season, but had two games listed as TBD. The Nevada-Texas State
game on Saturday, Sept. 29, will also be shown on an ESPN network, but
that platform is still to be determined at a later date.

ESPN3 is ESPN's live multi-screen sports network, a 24/7 destination
that delivers thousands of global sports events annually and accessible
online via WatchESPN.com, on smartphones and tablets via the WatchESPN
app and through ESPN on Xbox LIVE to Gold level members. It is currently
available to 73 million homes at no additional cost to fans who receive
their high-speed Internet connection or video subscription from an
affiliated service provider. The network is also available at no cost to
approximately 21 million U.S. college students and U.S.-based military.......

Does Texas state and Tech have kind of affiliation? I know the ties between UTSA and UT but trying to figure out the whole State thing.

yea serious.

No offense, but tech or state aren't high on my list of things to follow. Which is actually pretty sad because I actually attended state for a year before I xfered to Minnesota.

No affiliation. No offense taken.

I'm not sure why I assumed a UT fan would know anything about schools outside of UT.

You know how people say there is no such thing as a dumb question. Well here in Texas your question above would be considered an exception to that rule.

Vito Corleone

lol, no it wouldn't since there are other schools in other states that have the word "state" in their name that are affiliated with other schools that have the word "tech" in their name.

Example

Utah State University is affiliated with Utah Tech who only recently changed their name to Utah Valley State University.

Of course only a ignorant person who has not been to other states would not understand this.

So you know more about schools in Utah than in Texas, even though you went to a Texas school for a year.

Neat.

Lived all over, finished my BS at U of Minnesota even though I started my degree at Ut Arlington and then at Texas state. It's called having a job that moves you all over the place. So I currently live in SA but I have lived in Austin, Dallas, Minneapolis, Salt Lake City Charleston SC. Columbia SC, and Augusta GA.

And of all the places I've lived Austin and SLC are my two favorites.

I expect within the next 2 to 4 years I'll be in Colorado Springs or Virginia, or Boston. But that is just a guess on my part.

Let's just assume the game were on LHN and Tech still agreed to play it... isn't that a better situation than now? Do we really think Tech would lose an assumed guaranteed D1 win that they might need to be bowl eligible? (honest question, not flaming...) Was the threat of them pulling out of the game truly THAT real?

TV-wise - for State, it's a step in the wrong direction. The game would be on ESPN3 no matter what. If it were on the LHN, at least the 6 TV's that would get it could be better than none. I get the concern of losing the game altogether as State has so much tied to this... I guess it's worth giving up a little (tv exposure) to at least guarantee the main thing doesn't disappear.

As a Texas State Alum and Football Program Donor it's a better option. One of the goals is to turn those SWT Alumni from UT tshirt fans into alumni who spend their money with their school instead of the obvious popular choice down the road (we all know this happens). The Program is starting to turn heads day by day and that's what the Alumni Association wants heck thats what the students, faculty, coaching staff, etc etc .....that's what everyone involved with the university wants. We need to Market ourselves in the best possible way and having a game shown on LHN is not the way to do that. ESPN 3 is not the best but beggars can't be choosers. I'm proud of my school and I love the direction its heading, any negativity by others trying to look down on Texas State will not get to me. Any shots taken at my school will not get to me. In fact I always smile and chuckle at every shot taken at Texas State by fans of other big in state programs. Seriously, i know we cant be that intimidating for you haha. We are growing annually into all facets regarding a university and I love it because it's truly been quite the ride seeing my school grow from something small into something much bigger, not too many fans can say that about their school.

LOL It wasn't too hard to find lots of T-shirt Texas fans on the Minn campus. Fact it was pretty easy to find Texas gear up in the Twin Cities any time I wanted. No one cared, the whole area is about pro sports especially the Vikes and the Pack.

Hell there was as much Notre Dame shirts on the Gopher campus as there was U of M gear.

To be a rival you have to win a few games. So aggsy, who is your rival in the SEC?

I"m guessing Vandy, or maybe Miss St
