The Lakers still value size. Spurs are allergic to it.

Cant believe the Spurs didn't land a future All Star big with the 59th pick.
Please get Sims an invite and amnesty the fuck out of Bonner

I him play several games the past couple of years. Whether or not he ever gets to San Antonio, Denmon is a very good player. Pretty capable of getting his own shot.

They couldn't at least gamble on a big? They had to go with a undersized sg?

The 59th pick makes the NBA like 1% of the time. Getting upset at who the Spurs picked is pretty silly, tbh. The only thing the Spurs should be doing is trying to locate a player who may make the league. There's no concern about anything else including size, position, weaknesses, strengths, etc. It's just a matter of hoping to find an NBA player.

That's the part that make absolutely no sense. They didn't even feel it was worth it to gamble on a big. Fakers with all their size even took Sacre.

The only thing that concerns me now is what the team has to do to overtake the Thunder. The Thunder got better tonight, we didn't and if they wanna give TD and Manu one more ring, they got a lot of hard work to do this offseason.

Yep, and some of the better advanced stats guys around, the wagesofwins people, think he should make it. Not bad for 59th...

With the 59th pick and the Danny Ferry distraction, I expected nothing from the draft and that seems to be exactly what they got. I'm sure they went into the draft with ABCD&E senarios and tried to pawn off players to move up. There was simply nothing there and no one was biting. On the flipside, I am expecting them to press heavy in the veteran free agency market including some of their own.
TBH I expected the Spurs not to go wild with picks and trades after last year.

lol @ some of you being upset/disappointed.
the way I looked at it, the Spurs didn't even have a pick this year. get over it.

Yes, it's only 59th.
Given what was available I was predicting the one-skill player that could either be the regular 12th man or a Toro that came up when resting Tim. I wanted a interior stopper. That guy went 60th.
I'm a Brave's fan. The last guy on offense needs to be someone who can be the backup when Chipper sits. There's a little flexibilty of 3B, LF & 1B because of Prado and Hinske.
Else, stash Radosevic.
Denman is worthy of a 59th, but not our 59th, particularly because his skill set seems to be more available in the FA market, D-League callup, unless ... Neal is not seen as part of next year's team.

Lol, Perry's still gonna bitch and moan about playing the 4 like he did at Baylor. Book it.
No he won't. OK City has some young stars and they went to the finals. he will fit right in with the youth and athleticism and it is a great pick for OK City.

What makes it worse though is Perry Jones and Moultrie sunk to the end of the first round. A place we thought we could move up to. Then on top of that the Thunder got Perry Jones.
The Spurs won too many games during the regular season. While everyone was rooting for the Spurs to win I was rooting for the Spurs to lose enough to get a good 1st round pick. the ideal scenario would have been to fall to the a lower seed and keep the draft pick . They didn't win a title this year anyways so the first overall seed ended up not even mattering. It was a deep draft and it was almost a certainty that a good player would fall late into the first round. The draft is the only way the Spurs add good young talent and that couldn't happen this year.
I didn't like how the Spurs traded that pick away. I am not as high on Jackson as most here. Jackson is getting close to going over the hill as a player and expect it to start to happen next season. The spurs needed to add young athletic players not more players on the cusp of being on their last legs.

Rascal - when a team makes the WCF it's not silly. Saying if you don't win it all, you should essentially tank is not a good way to look at it IMO. It all depends on circumstance and Spurs (after GS was stupid enough to trade) had a legit shot to win it all. But there is no way you trade a deep playoff run for a draft pick.
The pick they traded away wasn't worth much at all.

Not tank just lose enough to not get the top seed. It all didn't matter because the Spurs traded the pick anyways. Trading away draft picks are niot smart moves for the Spurs. The spurs strenght in adding talent is with their draft picks. Free agency and trades the Spurs are far behind other teams in success.
The pick wasn't worth much because they won too many regular season games. Just a couple of loses more and they slide down to getting a good player.
Now they have no title for last year and no good young draft pick for next year. I am not high on S Jackson as a future player. He is soon to be another over the hill player on the roster.
The only way the Spurs add good young talent is with the draft. The best players on their team are the draft picks they make so trading away the pick was a crucial move. and this year the Spurs got a player that is questionable to even make the team.
