Obviously New Orleans were the ultimate winners of this draft, but when you consider what each team had to work with I would say the Celtics got away with murder. The picks of Sullinger and Melo late in the first round were both steals and probably convinces KG to stay in Boston.

I would have ran like hell out of there too if I was LeBron

Seriously, I love Charlotte taking Kidd-Gilchrist. They needed a legit professional with a real work ethic and tons of upside.

Boston definitely got a lot for such low picks though. OKC has to be pretty damn happy right now too.

I like Houston's draft. Lamb was the best SG available. He was my 3rd SG after Beal and Waiters. Then they get White and TJones. Great picks overall.

Our draft was strong with Davis and Darius Miller in the 2nd. Don't care for the Rivers pick. The team thinks he can be a PG. I don't see it.

Call me a homer but I think The Piston's scored big. Drummond is 18 and could be great or a solid pick at 9.

I nearly fell out my chair when I saw the Monty Williams interview where he said Rivers is great at setting up teammates. I wonder if he has ever actually seen an Austin Rivers game. I mean, you can hardly find highlight videos of the kid passing. I don't get that pick at all when they already have a much better version of Rivers in Gordon.

I don't think he's going to pan out, but at nine, it'd be nuts not to take him. Worst case he's probably still a starting center. Best case he's better than Davis. I do have to admit his Pistons career didn't look to have a great start when he looked like he just got done sipping syrup with Pimp C in the interview though.

Rivers, he's extremely talented tbh. He needs time to develop fundamentals and mature, but he has a higher ceiling than Lamb and the other guards besides MKG. If the Spirit get a good coach that keeps Rivers under control, you have an amazing 1-2 punch with Davis.

I love Rivers as a 2-guard. I don't what the hell they're smoking in New Orleans thinking he could ever play point though.

Huh? The hell you're going on about, I'm not talking about what position he should fall in yet. Need to see how he receives the transition to the NBA and how he gets coached before that is determined.

All I said is that he's an incredibly raw player with a higher ceiling than the other guards besides mkg.

It's not as if most teams play with the traditional PG/SG/SF/PF/C configuration though

The Spurs don't play with a distinction between PF and C or SG and SF. Or the Magic don't deploy an orthodox, back to the basket PF in favor of a stretch 4.

Or the Wolves or Clippers, which have a plethora of small guards and big men - but no real wings.

Celtics did well with Sullinger, Fab Melo can play a role. Fits needs, and Sullinger especially is good value. Kings had Robinson fall to them, but selling off #36 is a loss, that's just because the Maloofs are broke. Orlando was solid in getting more solid bigs, and Milwaukee did well, especially if you include the trade with Houston to get Dalembert as well.

Cavs reached for Waiters, and I would imagine that they overpaid for Zeller(24 and 33 woul've probably been fair at that point, Dallas getting all 3 picks is robbery.)

Houston Rockets depth chart (assuming FAs aren't re signed)

PG: Lowry/Livingston
SG: Martin/Lamb
SF: Parsons/White
PF: Scola/Patterson/Motiejunas/White/Jones/Brockman/Leuer
C: NOBODY

Why can't I hold all these PFs? Why are the Rockets the Bucks of the West?

If Denmon's TRB% is better than Sacre's I will eat my non-existent hat.

Also this means the Lakers just dropped to dead last in pace with Kobe being a TOSB and Jim Buss continuing the Bynum love affair.

I don’t think Kobe is done…Kobe is an assassin who would gladly throw Pau under the Lakers bus if it created cap space….

Honestly, look at the squads who advanced to the conference finals. Centers were

TOSB Duncan
SB Perkins
TOSB Garnett
Bosh/Turiaf/Anthony/Pittman

You just need athletes in the frontcourt. The only team that really kills you with their bigs is LA, and they're trying to fuck up that advantage by moving Pau.

Eh... Boston could go either way. Melo is dumb as fuck and Sullinger's lack of size hurt his team in the tourney...

PJ3 to the Thunder is pretty good for them though....he might end up being pretty good.

It's debatable. My buddy who's a big Duke fan thinks Harrison Barnes is the best player in the draft. I was pretty surprised to hear that. Festus Ezeli has legit size and there's been a lot of buzz going on about Draymond Green.

Well, any team that got a high pick obviously won, though it doesn't take a genius to do well with a top pick.

As far as "smart picks considering what was there", Boston did extremely well, and quite frankly, every team that passed on Perry III after and including when Boston passed on him shocked me. I couldn't believe he dropped all the way to 28. I fully expected Chicago to take him if OKC didn't. There's no way he should've been 28th imo. Possibly the steal of the draft.

I was also dumbfounded with Charlotee's pick. I thought they wanted Thomas Robinson, and were worried about the Wizards taking him if they took Beal for that trade. . .then they don't pull the trade and just draft Kidd-Gilchrist instead? lol?

Hopefully he works out for them, but tbh he just seems like a slightly more athletic Kawhi Leonard with a much crappier jumpshot to me. I don't get the high pick, unless they just expect him to improve a LOT over the next 3 years. But it's a dangerous #2 pick considering his limited offensive skillset.
