Seriously when is the last fuckin time we had a draft pick pan out?

Josh Howard became a pot smoking scrub after a few good years but even that was a luck pick. Harrisdoesnt count because Devin was a top 5 pick.

Roddy, Dojo, Shan foster, Ager, and all these other fucktards that Donnie got are scrubs. Half of them aren't even in the league right now. What the hell happened to Fazekas and Calathes and all these other fucks?

After Daddy Nelson left, we haven't had a good draft and this years is another stinker.

I will say this, if Terrence Jones fulfills his potential the Mavs will look pretty stupid for passing on him. I think the Crowder pick is a good one.
The draft is so hit and miss to me that I don't get too riled up about it. Lets see what we do in FA.

yeah that whole "the draft doesn't matter" thing that mav fan picked up from mark and donnie is retarded, the draft is how you build a contender becuase the rookies contribute while taking up little cap space which can be used to add even more talent.

for instance green/neal/leonard/etc for the spurs or harden for the thunder

Harden doesn't count because he was a high pick.

Ibaka pick 24 is a much better example.

spurs only drafted one of those guys.

neal was undrafted and picked up in free agency, how is that any different? it's not like he was a proven commodity, my point is you build through acquiring and developing young talent.

And the Spurs strategy, one that most teams haven't caught up with yet, is to look everywhere. Not just the top 5 in the draft, but also in the late first round, or second round, or undrafted guys, or international prospects.

Sometimes it is the system that makes the player however. I doubt Jordan would have six titles if the Bulls didn't give him Scottie Pippen, a bunch of good role players, and a coach willing to use a good offensive system and massage egos.

u don't get no franchise player with a late 1st round pick or a 2nd rounder imho. there might be golds buried in the sands like manu, agent0, lewis just to name a few but shit only happened a handful of times in NBA history, spurs made a few wicked drafts but at the end of the day their #1 is still that guy named tim duncan who was drafted #1 overall

mavs are targetting on them established stars who can bring significant changes to the team instantly, which is what the mavs really need. they know the game MUCH better then the fans do and they know what's best for their team. they signed TC and dude played an integral part on their championship team which was no coincidence, and don't forget how much trash the fans threw at the FO upon the arrival of TC

They also gave big contracts to Haywood, Dampier, etc.

On top of that they never draft anything decent.

They made one great move in acquiring TC and then let him go after a championship. There FO shouldn't be above question from the fans.

:lol never mind that they got Shawn Marion for Jerry Stackhouses corpse, the Jason Kidd trade that turned out in our favor, the Butler/Stevenson/Haywood trade, the Peja pickup, and other moves that led to two finals runs and 11 straight years of contention.

Mavs FO might not be the best in the business, but they are pretty damn good. Its hilarious how it only took one year for mavfan to forget all about the championship and go back to ":madrun MARK AND DONNIE ARE BIG DUMMIES!! :madrun"

Apparently Mavs really wanted both Jeremy Lamb and Royce White. Guess that means the Rockets are fucked :lol

The Mavs' front office has made their fair share of shitty moves but at the end of those some of those moves paid off and basically gave them the pieces to finally win a damn championship. The 2010-2011 Mavs team will always be the best team in Mavs history because they wound up being the champs.

Of course they decided that one ring was enough for now.

TC was a low-risk, high profit investment for us imho, it cranked out a championship for us and such result was definitely beyond the expectations of our fans, and maybe the FO idiots themselves as well, but it could've gone the opposite way if TC got injured and missed half of the games like he regularly did the previous seasons.

donnie is damn aware of his importance to this team and that such players don't grow on trees, but he chose the option that comes with lower-risk even though it kills your chance of repeatin' it. its always a gamble to commit your long-term plan with such a player who has a long history of injury & troubles off the court tbh
