It seems he decided to step down. Didier Deschamps would be the favorite to substitute him.
Blanc did the best he could do with this dumb generation

Hopefully the next coach will start with a new generation. Lots of overrated players on the team right now.
And Lefty, Monaco in 2004 was an offensive team. Deschamps just needs good players. When your best offensive player is Valbuena you have a problem.

I have nothing against defensive football if it's the winning football.
We won the WC with the Defense

Ah shit I forgot about Monaco

True; great D, world class goalie
But you win with D as long as it's supported by a great offense; the 1998 team had Zizou, Djorkaeff, Henry, Trezegol, Duga

lol great offense
Duga didn't really play

Djorkaeff was past his prime
zidane was average
henry and trezeguet too young.

Zidane was average :lol
(2006 was his best WC though, a true masterpiece)
Henry and Treze put a lot of pressure on the other team's D
Duga's hair threw their opponents off

Masterpiece=two good games :lol
I'm a Zidane fan but I have to agree with Sonic, Zidane's WC performances are overrated because of team success. Cue in butthurt Messi response. cry

i was just talking about 1998 when France won only with defense.
zidane best tournament was the Euro 2000. He would have won the golden ball if he hadn't headbutted a german in the CL.

98 was maybe one of the worst O team in the WC. They won with D and the midlefield
Guivarch is probably the worst O player of the FNT ever

Anyway, even if DD wanted to, Im not sure it would have happened; the FFF still remembers an old OM scandal that involved a close friend of DD

Why is Deschamps refusing the job? It's not like OM is making the Champions League anyway. :lol

he doesnt want to take the job just after his friend Blanc. He thinks he wasn't treated well.
And he left OM too.

Guivarch is not an all time great but back then, the guy was really good tbh.
I re-watched some of the 98 WC games and was surprised. He created a lot for himself and others. Plus, he was defensively very effective.
Well... not scoring a single goal during the competition and selling swimmingpool in Britany doesn't help his legend, i guess !

Finally Didier Deschamps has accepted to be FNT coach for 2 years with an additional 2 years if France goes to the WC
good news for french football, better than Leguen
