Revisit this in the playoffs when 40 year old Steve Nash is trying to check Russell Westbrook..

and let's face it...How is Westbrook going to defend Nash...fact is he isn't..They will now be forced to play our bigs one on one no more double teaming or it's lights out Nash from the 3...or Kobe eating up Harding or Thabo in a 1 on 1 match...pick your poison :lol

My guess is Grant Hill joins Nash in LA. Probably for the lower mid-level.

Bingo.... Hill will undergo the Kobe procedure and then it's on..Nash already being a loyal Laker :lol and @the Kobe Procedure

Sources told ESPN.com that Nash will try to convince longtime teammate Grant Hill, one of his closest friends in the game, to join him with the Lakers.

ESPN The Magazine's Ric Bucher reported over the weekend the Lakers were one of four teams (along with Toronto, New York and Phoenix) in the running for Hill after the 39-year-old's recent trip to Germany to undergo the same platelet-enrichment treatment on his knee that [Kobe] Bryant credited for his rejuvenated knee last season.
Hill may be 39 years old, but after undergoing the "Kobe procedure," he still has enough left in the tank to help the Lakers compete for another NBA (http://bleacherreport.com/nba) title.

Suddenly, the Lakers—who, just one week ago, seemed to be one of this offseason's ultimate failures after failing to get into the top 10 of this year's NBA draft—are right back in the running. Instead of going young, they're going the old-and-wise route, and after acquiring Nash, Hill will be the perfect complement.

In Hill, the Lakers aren't necessarily looking for someone to light up the scoreboard—they're looking for a playoff-experienced, veteran presence to give this team a boost off the bench without spending a ton of money.

Regardless of all their past fuck ups/the stupidity of not trading Nash earlier, what would you have preferred the Suns do with Nash this off season? I understand they should have moved on a lot earlier and gotten more for him, but given where they are now, I don't see any better outcome regarding Nash.

This would be a fantastic move if the Lakers can trade Kobe away for a good character guy like a younger Grant Hill.

As of now, I am not sure how Kobe and Nash can share the ball.

Lakers made the move to convince Howard?

no..Lakers made a move to upgrade thier PG position without trading any core pieces.

Kobrick has a no trade clause and there's zero chance of that TOSB going to Phoenix tbh.... Plus the salaries couldn't possibly match, right?

Somebody explain please...Why couldnt the Lakers have done this?

Goran Dragic contract: 4-year, $30M deal with potential to be $34M from annual $1M All-Star bonuses. 4th year is player option...

I agree and thought the same when I first heard this ... but:

1. We needed someone to agree. Rox would of needed to sign Goran and agreed to the picks. Who knows if rox would of agreed?

2. Lakers are in salary cap hell pending further deals. You pay 18 million (with cap hit) for Nash, you dont do that for Dragic. I know Goran is younger and in SOME ways may be the better player (at this point) but this is the best splash they could make within reason. Im just worried that if we do want to trade Bynum or Pau we may regret not having a few picks to dangle ...

Not to worry. The next available first rounder that the Lakers can trade is their 2017 pick and their best tool to absorb future financial commitments from Orlando, the Odom trade exception, has been used to acquire Nash.

KD not a happy camper:

"Seeing Steve Nash go to the Lakers, I really didn’t like that move,” Durant said with a slight smile. “Steve Nash is a great point guard, man. He gets everybody involved, a great shooter, takes a lot of pressure off Kobe, so I’m very upset that he went to the Lakers. I wish he had gone out East.

Anyway, please dispute that Kobe doesn't need stacked teams to win. Also, please dispute that he doesn't beg for getting elite help every time he fails to win.

Disagree. We upgraded the weakest position. Massively. I mean, this dude lead the league in total assists last year with a shitty supporting cast. Gortat - of all players - shot like 56% playing with Nash. Bynum did it with Fish and Sessions. Now he'll be the recipient of Nash's dishes. Consistently. Nash may have 4 or 5 20+ assist games playing with the Lakers this year. Don't underestimate his signing. My only worry is the bench. By evidence of this deal, the Lakers are all in for the next 2-3 years IMO. Meaning they will upgrade the bench. Jamison or G Hill off the bench would be a nice start.

I can't see how this isn't a serious upgrade for the Fakers - Nash, who has the best vision in basketball, now has two big men and Kobe to hit in their spots. Their offence should be a juggernaut. :pctoss

Fakers will have a weak bench though.

As for Nash, I've always liked and respected the guy immensely... now I'm forced to appreciate Nash the human being while hating Nash the Faker, but I guess that's no different to how I thought about him as a Sun. Meh.

Agreed. Nash is definiately the kind of player that is always diplomatic, and says the "right thing" in every interview.... but god its sickening to hear all the "we"'s and "us"'s connected to the Lakers, and that uniform makes me want to jab my eyes out... .and this is before they sign any more of Nash's buddies..... arghhh.

Of course, i'm the one reading and watching the interviews, and reading Laker's boards of celebration and awesomeness. All of a sudden Nash is everything WE'VE been saying for years, and all of the flaws Lakers fans threw in our face for years are things that don't matter. The hypocrisy, while not surprising, is still overwhelming....

Marlon Wayans pissed all over Lakers fans celebrating the Steve Nash pickup by declaring the former league MVP will be nothing more than an elderly cheerleader for the purple and gold.

Just a few hours after Nash -- aka 'Messiah 2.0' -- signed his deal with the Lakers, Wayans summed up the trade for the 38-year-old point guard by saying, "Steve Nash is a dead man. He's getting back massages at half court ... getting ice packs on."

But his ultimate diss was comparing Nash to "The Sixth Man" -- a god awful 90s movie Marlon made ... but NO ONE saw.

Sorry Marlon, it's impossible for Nash to be that bad.

While it doesn't have the same vitrol as Johnny Damon going from the Red Sox to the Yankees, I can see why Suns/Lakers fans would be initially apprehensive about having Nash on/join a bitter rival. However, it happens and for me I support whomever is on the floor for the Lakers and if though it took me a week before I was okay with Nash being on our team, it is something that I really never expected although I would always trade our starting PG and back-up PG on NBA 2K whatever for him :lol.

Nash helps, but I dont think he helps that much to LA. We'll see. For a team that needs to pound it inside more, getting Nash kind of negates that some.

If it leads to an LA title - ya, that would suck, but other than that there is all upside for PHX. Watching Kobe chuck while Nash stands there could be funny to.

LA, if it's a real possibility, should trade Bynum for Dwight. Dwight is a superior player, especially defensively and would go a long way to cleaning up the mess LA's backcourt will create defensively.
