Hey Jerry, what do you think the Heat are gonna do about luxury tax and shit? Does Arison just not give a shit about paying it? IMO Miller, Haslem, Anthony and James Jones are all overpaid and Miami should try to get rid of them. The big 3, Chalmers, and the rest of the roster as some combo of veterans ring chasing, rookie contracts, and role players who they can get cheaply.

Being lazy here, but what teams are eligible to claim players off of waivers this year?

Teams under cap get first chance to bid on amnestied players. Bobcats, Hornets, Rockets, Cavs, Mavs, Suns, Blazers among those w/room.

Of the four, Miller is the only one likely to be gone. Haslem is overpaid but still valuable. Jones needs more playing time imo. Anthony has a low trade value and it's likely the amnesty is used on Miller. Battier and Cole should definitely stay but I wouldn't hesitate to package Cole in a trade. Riley met up with Allen last night and they're making a strong push to sign him, but also not a good move imo

Arison just lost millions, the Heat made questionable moves on draft day and Heat beat writers know next to nothing, so it's hard to tell what they're doing. Trading their pick and passing on talent that was available was a bad move. Would've been a great way to start getting younger and bigger.

If he knows what's good for him, he'll stay away from the Blazers and their big man curse.

With Batum's offer and Hibberts, POR should be out of the discussion, right?

Was wondering about this as well.

Hornets, Rockets, Cavs, Suns should all be thinking about tanking/developing their young guys. None of those teams would even make the playoffs with Brand anyways. That leaves the Mavericks and the Blazers.

Objectively the Mavericks should tank as well. They'll have a ton of space in 2013 and a high lottery pick to use as trade bait. Ofcousre, wasting a year of Dirk is a tough pill to swallow.

League executives believe Dallas, a rare big-market team with cap room, is the odds-on favorite to pluck Elton Brand off the amnesty wire.
