it's so-so right now, kind of on rough times with $$$ because it's hard to get clients who haven't heard of you, seen your work, or been recommended to you.

i am doing very few walk-ins and am slowly building up my clientele. it's a hard industry to make it in but i'm sure it'll be cool in a couple months.

i'll show yall one piece and one piece only... still needs one more session to finish the other half plus some fine detail work.

have at it! (i haven't learned my lesson yet with you trolls haha)

btw, i'm not planning on opening my own shop anytime soon or in the near future. i'm hoping this gig will pay off soon and help me travel around a bit.

you're just pissed because i'm doing what you said i wouldn't, what you tried to discourage me to do by playing your little childish games but the fact of the matter is... you're still here playing those games while i tattoo beautiful women, cool people, and make money doing so(not much right now but enough to survive on and keep up with the bills).

it's all good though, no hard feelings. you, just like the other trolls, deserve to get your shit pushed in. btw, i'd still love to see what you could do with a tattoo machine, my guess is not much at all, not even a fuckin' dot.

btw, the tattoo industry has more trolls than ST. it's insane to think i have had to deal with so many immature artists in the past 10 months. nothing but shit talking and drama, it's like i dropped out of high school only to go back when i turned 29. shit is annoying!

I'd think your newfound career success would alleviate some of your anger issues, tbh.

it's called; good equipment and know-how + experience. plus, that apprenticeship was not worth it when everything was said and done. i pretty much learned how to clean up better cause i did was clean clean clean and then i was let go after 6 months of motherf'n cleaning. was pretty pissed about that but i've gotten over it and ended up in a better situation anyhow, plus it got my foot in the door.

i'd be lying though if i said i learned nothing in my apprenticeship; the only thing i can really take from that 6 months is that i learned how to work on and build my own machine's which is vital in this field and which most have no understanding of how to do. it's quite sickening to see those that have been tattooing 5+ yrs and still don't know how to tune their machine's.

i've met some really cool people but i've also met a bunch of weirdo's and flakes in this industry.

I've been watching Miami Ink lately and there is this aprentice japanese guy, he gets put through all kind of mockery and shit.

Is that the way it supposed to be for all aprentices? :lol

Maybe i just don't understand the hostility. You've come a long way from tatting up grapefruits and buying needles off of craigslist.

Your story is somewhat inspirational.

When someone accepts you as an apprentice, you're not supposed to be a flunky. I can see someone taking advantage of an eager person wanting to learn, just to save money on help, and the recent spate of reality TV shows about tattooing, like everything else on there, puts an unrealistic slant on it so young people probably are flocking to it thinking they are going to be the next Kat Von D or something.

Reminds me of the house flipping thing and how people lost their asses on it.

it's dumb man... there's those out there that are willing and will help you learn and hone your skills but most just fuck with you for a yr then start showing you shit or completely drop you for the hell of it.

i was in a weird situation and though i didn't really get much shit, i did get fucked with a tad bit but i'm not 18-20's and i didn't give a fuck how i was "supposed" to act towards other tattooers; i'm too old to shut my mouth if someone is trying to get under my skin and so i made at least 1 enemy which is fine by me.

it's like high school but like i said, if you surround yourself with the top echelon of artists in town, you can only succeed too. i try to make friends with the top of the top here so maybe one day i can work with them and learn a little from them.

btw, the shops i've been at would make all those reality shows look worse than they do. i've seen some crazy shit in the shops i've been in.

trust me, everyone wants to tattoo and it's ridiculous. i got into tattooing by luck, plus it's definitely not for everyone and everyone in tattooing isn't necessarily for tattooing. i've met plenty that chew people up and do crap work because they think they're rockstars, the money is good, and they have people telling them they're great but i don't associate with those few. i associate with those that are eager to get better, not satisfied with all previous tattoo's, and want nothing more than to do a solid job and make enough dough to survive.

personally, i just want to travel. i don't want to be on LA ink.

i'd show yall more work but no matter the quality, i'm sure i'll get hated on in this thread sooner or later so i'll just leave yall with that one piece to look at.

btw, i do traditional japanese, traditional americana, and realistic portrait's.... pretty much everything but i don't do script(cause i suck at drawing/writing it out), biomech/bioorganic bs, etc... my work is still raw and i have yet to find my style, usually you don't do so for yrs to come, but i really like americana and realistic work the most.
