Could the Spurs possibly get Scola if he is amnestied? Boy....the Spurs fans would be happy about that if it came true? :lol

I don't think we have much chance to get amnesty action due to over cap.

Not unless they get through wavers which is unlikely. Sounds like Dallas is going to amnesty Haywood though

I dont see him signing for the vet minimum with us....

High bid gets him and Rockets pay the difference. Scola gets same amount either way as original contract and no more. We can only bid the Vet min, so someone else, like (ugh) Mavs could easily bid more with cap room.

By rule, I don't think Scola has any choice but to sign with the high bidder.

Id gladly take Brenda Haywood for the vet min for 10 mpg off the bench tbh.

Damn, at the end of the day, the Spurs don't look as horribly stupid about the Scola trade. Yeah, still a really damn dumb trade but the Rockets didn't exactly take advantage. They didn't win anything of note and will have wasted a whole lot of money on him.

I'm not sure I'd even want Scola on the Spurs right now. Bonner was out-muscling him last year regularly. Anyone who Bonner can bully isn't a playoff-quality bigman, tbh.

Howard isn't going to Houston... scratch this...

Houston is crazy.

If they really got Howard this summer and Howard went away next summer, that would be a joke forever.

Houston is one of the teams I can say confidently are doing way worse than the Spurs this offseason... everything can change quickly (see Mavs), but if they're locked on Howard, I don't foresee the #2 seed for them anymore, tbh...

well they need to cut or trade someone
they still have the personnel to bring out the all PF tweener lineup
with a bench of all PFs

That 2008 Spurs-Lakers series would have been pretty damn close with Scola in our squad.

No doubt that the Spurs would have been a better team with Scola, that ship has sailed.

However, within the confines of that one match-up, I will point out that Scola has traditionally gotten his ass handed to him by Gasol (beaten up pretty good in the '09 playoffs), while Oberto did an okay job of keeping '08 Gasol in check.

If, prior to that series, we had been given the choice of adding Scola to the roster or getting Manu to 100% - I'd take fully healthy Manu.

Scola owns Odom.

Too late..we already inked Diaw for the Pf spot.. We need a center now.

I'd love to add Scola to this team, I saw him play last week against Spain here in Buenos Aires and he seems even fitter than previous years. I don't know how good he can still be at 31? but he's damn good and has proven all detractors wrong. He's a Manu-type of player, lot of passion and hard worker. That being said, I don't think he'll ever be a Spur

No surprise, he sucks. Empty stats.

Speaking of the Scrubla trade, Spurs got a late second round pick they used to draft De Colo. If Nando turns up well, we could be thankful Spurs did that trade. :downspin:

No we don't. What we need is a backup PF that's actually worth a damn.

Just like how trading Hill's expiring contract (after which Indiana wasted cap space by signing him to a big contract :stirpot: ) paved the way for a guy who leads his draft class in Win Shares? :hat

Houston has decided to use the amnesty provision on Luis Scola and will likely file with NBA on Friday, league sources tell Y! Sports.

I thought Miami was under the cap. Then I'm pretty sure it will be Dallas or Portland.

Even though Houston did not win a title with him, that still does not mean the Spurs could not have used him instead of Bonner.

Spurs have not won a title either since they traded Scola. Right?

Dallas

Depends on how much of their remaining cap space they use to get Brand. If they lose on the Brand bidding, then sure.

Not even close. James/Wade/Bosh just about put them over by themselves.
