I think it has to do more with the ease in which information is spread in today's technologically 'advanced' age. It used to be that a sport reporter had to hit the concrete and get a story and actually put work in. Nowadays, the likes of Broussard or Stephen A. Jackson doesn't have to actually wait to go to print or, even have that space of time where they can maybe put in more editing or more fact finding. It's like; oh shit, Dwight wants out according to his Facebook--let me tweet about it and write a blog that is ill-written or just doesn't cut it. The days of Jim Murray and Ian Woolridge are long gone.
