It looks like Blake Griffin will be staying stateside this summer.
Griffin, the Los Angeles Clippers All-Star forward, will not participate in the 2012 London Olympics but will be ready for 2012-13 training camp, according to SI.com.
Ken Berger of CBSSports.com has confirmed Griffin's summer outlook.
One of 12 players to be named to USA Basketball's Olympics team, Griffin suffered a left knee injury during a USA Basketball scrimmage on Wednesday. He missed Team USA's Thursday night exhibition against the Dominican Republic in Las Vegas after leaving the team to return to Los Angeles for an MRI and further evaluation.

We don't need monkeyballers like D12 and Blake representing us, even though monkeyball is the future of the NBA

Blake Griffin has been diagnosed with a meniscus tear in his left knee and will have arthroscopic surgery probably early next week, according to NBA executives who were not authorized to speak publicly on the matter.
Griffin will not be playing for the U.S. Olympic team in London later this month, but he will be available for Clippers training camp that starts in October.
Griffin is expected to be out about eight weeks recovering from the injury and should be fine and ready to play when the season starts, the executives said.

so does the Portland training staff strike again???
Absolutely.
Anything dealing with basketball and the city of Portland should be eradicated completely.
What a pathetic city, it's the East Coast's version of Cleveland.

meniscus tear
Can someone enlighten me on the origin and meaning of the term "monkeyball"?
Monkeyball = lob city, all dunks, no fundamentals, just jumping and dunking and hanging of the rim like Cheetah from Tarzan would do if he had a Clippers uniform.
It also means losing in spite of it however.
So in the long run, will the Olympic Mens team be credited for saving Blake's career? Imagine he doesn't play ball this summer and he goes into next season still on the verge of knee injury. He could miss an entire year again.
