View Full Version : Job Openings

Does anyone know of any job openings, anywhere? Playing shows
around this city, really doesn't yield much money.

I've actually been more focused on getting everything set
up for the fall semester, I haven't been working..

But now, I definitely need a job. So if anyone knows anything,
let me know.

Can't say, but asking here is a good start for networking. One of the best ways to find a job. Don't let the trolls here throw you off.

Some idea of the type of job you're looking for would be helpful.

No one wants to hire a morbidly obese 21 year old who will probably die in a few years thus causing them to find a replacement. Work on your weight first, tbh.

Haha, these guys trying so hard to hurt my feelings.
But honestly, that green card insult was just terribly uncreative.
Come on mavs>spurs, I'm sure you have the potential
to come up with a clever insult about my life threatening weight.

& to the posters who aren't clowns. I'm looking
for something simple, nothing in particular, just a job
that doesn't require a college degree.

Do you have an education past high school tbh?

If not, go back to school and get into a potentially lucrative field.

:lol your avatar (which is obviously a pic of you) is reminiscent of the type of thing that occurred 4-5 years back with fat chicks on Myspace.

First thing you need to do is give up the dream--although I'm sure your old man has already had that conversation with you.

Next is networking. You said you don't have a degree, but do you have any skills your decent at or any training (i.e. handyman shit). Either way, ask friends and family if they know of any jobs you could work. Check if there's any jobs on campus too--but they'll likely pay you sub-mexican wages.

After that is scouring online I guess. Not sure what the best job site is, but there might be gig work on craigslist.

i was being serious when i asked about the papers thing too. in my experience, about 1 in 2 mexican's that i meet don't have the papers. that is crucial in whether or not you'll be able to get a job. the fact that you're working these side gigs makes me skeptical. unless obama's amnesty thing is already taking effect, idk. but if you aren't legal to work, you're going to have to go the mexican route and i'm sure your people could tell you better than we could how to get a job as a handyman or something. you probably have family members who could teach you a lot of that. if you're legal to work, just keep fishing around until you make a good impression with someone. if you look hard enough, eventually you'll find something even in this economy.

Lol, I was born in Corpus Christi, & raised here in
SA. My mother was born in Corpus as well, my father
was born in Dallas.

The side gigs are shows, performing music, mostly
at the white rabbit, or Korova. I'm not desperate for work
nor have I been struggling, I'm just networking because
I want a part time job while I go to school.

It's hard to network with a bunch of people
who are just interested in talking shit to me though.
But I guess this forum never was about making friends.
Haha.

What field are you intending to go into?

For a part time job, restrictions aren't numerous.
Just nothing with food, I was a waiter last year, hated it.

In the long run, I'd like to be an English teacher.

Apply to places like JC Penney, Walgreens, etc...They are usually good with hours with students. I don't know how employment at this level is in San Antonio so you gotta seek that info yourself.

In the long run, I'd like to be an English teacher.

Go to school if you're not already in. From your threads in this forum, it seems like you are looking for a line of work in things like writing and performing at shows or whatever, that shit can only sustain you for a while. Unless you have connects and are well into the field, you ain't gonna do shit with any of that in the long run. Integrate realistic plans into your future.

thispego is the taco bell franchise owner in the tri-county area

Son of a bitch he's an owner? And here I thought all he did was suck the mild sauce from the packets to win bets and take money from the drive through till.

:lol Jesus. I don't know RogerFreemason, but respectfully, you don't just tell someone to give up on their dreams. More people need to follow their dreams, tbh.

No, I'm not looking for anything involving music or writing or anything.
I'm just looking for a part time job, & I saw a post or two, pointing me in the right direction. Thanks guys!

& yeah, I'm already in school. I'm realistic about my goals,
but I feel like being a teacher is a very achievable thing for me.
I want it to be my career, I've told myself I'd do it since high school.
I already make as much money playing shows as I can at the moment..
but my music is always growing, & I don't really expect to ever make it
in that area, although it is my passion & "dream". I also like to believe that our
music is pretty unique and intricate, but if I make it in music, I'll pat myself
on the back.. until then, I'm pursuing a realistic career.

If you are looking into teaching check into places like the Boys and Girls Club, SA Youth and even City Year. They need after school tutors and may even have positions for site coordinators for their after school programs. The more direct experience you can get the better. If you are going to an ACCD school (SAC, NWV) they have childcare centers and hire federal work study students first.

Thanks Ashbeeigh.

& yes, earlier I was using my phone to reply. It's not an iphone either.

& DuncanOWNSkobe, You're an amazing troll. I'm glad you're here, the world needs people like you in it. Thank you, for taking the time to respond to a pathetic thread of a pathetic GNSF.

Also, my picture is angled, but it was taken by girlfriend, while sitting on a bench at Woodlawn lake. Good picture.
