You can be a championship caliber team with Dirk as your #1 guy. You will never be a championship caliber team with Pau Gasoft as your #1 guy.
If you put Dirk in place of Gasoft those 4 and a half seasons The Lakers would have won 5 championship in a row, and if Pau was in place of Dirk the last 14 years the Mavericks are either a 1st round exit team or don't even make the playoffs.
