Will he make a surprise showing being one of the all-time fan favorites? Wonder if he'll still get a ring too like they were saying.

Of course Malik Rose should be a part of the celebration and get a ring.

Malik is family; he has to come!
Malik was a big part of 60 games this season. Malik was one the reasons we were able to get even the 2nd seed.
When Malik went to NY, he knew they weren't going to make the postseason. He knew they weren't going to contend for a title. And I'm sure he was still supporting the Spurs along their path, the path he helped pave for them earlier this season, just like he did when he left for the Knicks. I'd be willing to bet that after his early vacation (which he never wanted) got started, there was only one team he was rooting for.
Malik's heart will always be in San Antonio. I'm not saying we need to retire his jersey or anything, but he deserves to be a part of this.

Malik is going to get a ring, but I doubt he'll be part of Saturday's festivities.

I don't see why he should get a ring...is it customary for players in Sports who have been traded to other teams to get a Ring/Trophy even if they got traded and that team won...that sounds kinda stupid...yeah he helped out during the season...but he was traded...he's on another Team now...he is no longer a Spur...

If the Red Sox can bring back players for their celebrations, I don't see why the Spurs couldn't if they so chose. At least YOUR celebration isn't going on during the regular season, like Boston's was. I don't think that there'd be anything wrong with it, if they WANTED to. I don't see it happening, though.

he'll always be a spur! :smokin
Question.... would Malik even want a ring? Why would he?

Pop already said during the season that if the Spurs won a title, they'd find a way to make sure Malik gets a ring.
In 2003 Anthony Goldwire got a ring and he wasn't on the Spurs at season's end. And you guys think Malik doesn't deserve one??

Of course he does. No question.
I'd be fine if he got one, I just wonder if he'd want one. He already has two, and number three might seem sort of mocking. He didn't even go to any of the games.

He didn't even go to any of the games.
He didn't go out of respect to the Spurs. He said that he didn't want to draw any media attention to him and away from the team.
I can't see how it would be mocking for him to get a ring. Each game of the season from the start of the year through last night was part of the Championship run. Malik was here a lot of the season.
Winning an NBA Championship isn't winning just one game, or just one series, winning one starts with that first game and ends at the very last one, for us it was a total of over 100 games, Malik helped us for the better part of half of those games, about 55 games so I can't think of any reason why he wouldn't deserve one.
Wanting one or not is a whole other story.

Damn that's what I just said ;-)

Why give Malik a ring?
He'll probably get it stolen again...

I don't think he's bitter or anything, he seems like the consumate pro. But, do you think this ring would mean nearly as much to him as the 99 and 03 rings? It's a nice gesture, and I agree that he deserves one. I just wonder what it would even mean to him.
