View Full Version : Where will the Mavs seed this season?

I'm reading a lot of Mav boards and people are saying a top 4 seed while others are saying 7th at best. Personally I think Dallas will be in the mix for most of the season but will ultimately end up 5th or 6th.

This team just has too many new pieces and big question marks. Can Darren be an effective starter and run pick and roll with Dirk? Can mayo live up to his potential and be that 2nd option for Dallas? Will the paint D be shit with an undersized brand and injury prone Kaman?

only one thing is for sure, dirk will take TOSB to the next level

yes, but it was last year too

He will have a bounce back year. He didn't give a fuck last year after the hangover and loss of TC. He actually started to round into shape towards the end.

Dem Mavs won't be making the playoffs.

I think they're playoff bound... but it's hard to predict where... the West has been a dogfight for a while now...

I actually agree with Stalin. Dirk is done and I would love to move him for Bynum while the rest of the league still rates him highly simply off of reputation.

Lol LA would neve do that deal

Especially with Howard on the table

Nope it would only happen if Howard wasn't on the table and the lakers figured bynum was going to walk at the end of the year for nothing

It can happen if Mavs can facilitate in a 3 team deal for Howard. Not sure if they have the cap room to take bad contracts

I think the Mavs will seed somewhere between 4-6 and have a ceiling of winning a playoff series.

No they don't. Wouldn't make sense.

why just win one series? the spurs proved last year that any of those 2nd tier teams can make it to the WCF if they just avoid OKC until then. the way i see it, it's OKC, then a clusterfucker for 2-6 unless the lakers get dwight and he pans out for them. avoid okc for as long as possible is the name of the game.

I'd guess 4-5 seed most likely.

If the Lakers were smart, they would do Dirk for Gasol in a fucking heartbeat, but Dirk for Bynum -- which means lining up Gasol next to Dirk -- would be going full retard. Gasol/Dirk would be a mess.

But I certainly wouldn't take Gasol if I were Dallas.

Best move for Dallas for now: wait it out and see if they can somehow pry Dwight Howard loose next summer. The odds aren't great, but they're better than trading Dirk for 50 cents on the dollar, which is probably all they could get.

The Lakers would do Pau for Dirk in a millisecond, but the mavs would never make that trade.

as long as we're competitive i'm happy because for once i have a couple of young players i can watch and hope they develop into something nice..if this teams ceiling was today i'd be pissed but at least when we rebuild we will have a head start with wright/collison/mayo and cap room. dirk coming off the books the year after next as well as marion will be sick.

If they could it would make sense, tbh. Dirk isn't far from retirement, Bynum is young and has a lot of potential of he stays healthy. Cubes will probably want to reload his Mavs soon. Just not sure what the cap situation is with Mavs.

mavs have a better squad now than what they had the same time last year, and they're also in great shape financially. a top4 seed ain't too much to expect for them mavs imho

mavs still need some minor amendments tho. signing some cheap bigs on minimum deals would turn out to be beneficial when kaman goes down and sits out for 30 some games he's supposed to miss

and they have a stronger paint with the newly acquisition of kaman & brand which will enable them to go further in the postseason. while the lakers got tha experience and OKC got talent, them mavs own both

Alright meaning how? Go far and win a title or pass the first round? I agree if he is shooting the way he can they are a very tough out, but there are questions on how they will gel together being it's basically a new team.

I think they finish around 5th

I like what they did with the backcourt bringing in Mayo, Jones, and Collison along with West/Marion that's a pretty good defensive line.

I want some NASTY!!

Too bad for the Mavs that Odom was too busy crying last season to ball for Dallas.

just need to sign some more cheap bigs then we're STACKED. brand lacks size and kaman is injury prone, it's obvious we still need some more depth in the PF/C rotation imho

This, but I think they can win two, not just one playoff series.

I can see the offensive load being carried by Dirk/Collison/Mayo with Marion as the 4th option.

tbh I think we're screwed in that category. What cheap bigs are out there that haven't already been signed? There's a dire need of big men these days. Just not sure who's out there that would actually make a difference imho

Dirk and Kaman for Brook Lopez , Humphries and 2 first round picks.

Kaman
Dirk
Wallace
JJ
Deron

even with that hypothetically happening, brooklyn still no match to us Heat. you need at least 3 superstars to have a chance, and currently you only have two, the rest are just worn-out overpaid shits
