Chris Paul: "I have a connection with New Orleans that I will never forget"

A lot of players have gone from small-market teams to bigger cities and they are usually not popular among fans in their original NBA cities. It's not your case in New Orleans. Why do you think is that, that you are still popular over there?

CP: You know, it's not about me, being popular in New Orleans. I'll always love the city of New Orleans. Even though I don't play there right now, I'm always there, I always go back. I have an after-school program there that is for kids in inner-city schools. I want to try to remain involved in the community there. I'm not here on this USA National Team if not for the fans in New Orleans. I don't know why they love me back. I was there six of the best years of my life. I love the city there, and I think we have a lot in common. Having to overcome adversity... It was just a connection that I will never forget.

Then he'd have no reason to even entertain the possibility of playing with the oft-injured Cornerstone and Monkeyball ankles, tbh..... :lol

Son, just because a kid has a moustache on the wrong half of his face is no reason to think he can singlehandedly take on LeBron and Wade or Durant and Westbrook. Real talk.

Son, I like the Hornets/Spirit but I don't think they will be even a top 3 team in the west unless Davis becomes the next Duncan and Rivers turns into Tim Hardaway.

I actually think they will start making playoffs and be solid 1st or even 2nd round exits in a matter of a few years.

Gordon has talent, no doubt, and potential coming out of his ass. But until he actually starts helping a team win games -- and games that matter -- Parker is a way better basketball player. Simple fact.

Well, I bet the Hornets and Clippers wish they knew what it was like to have a healthy Gordon. :lol

But no, Tony Allen would have erased his ass right out of that series, especially with Gasol and Randolph backing him up in the paint. :lol

And Gordon sure as shit couldn't have been the centerpiece of an offense this year that was predicated on distributing to all 5 players on the court. Think he could have gotten so many easy shots for everyone else on his squad? Has he ever made anyone on either of his teams better? Nope.

Nice scorer, gets his numbers, doesn't give you much of anything else. Can't anchor a whole team's offense like Parker, certainly can't anchor a whole team's defense either. Probably can't be the best player on a playoff team, never mind a conference finals team. So no, he's not remotely in Parker's league.

I see BR conveniently didn't link to the article and left out these parts....

How do you feel about the Clippers' offseason additions? Grant Hill, Jamal Crawford, Chauncey Billups...

CP: We had a big offseason. Our front office did an outstanding job bringing some players in. I'm excited to get back and play with my teammates.

Were you active recruiting players?

CP: Yeah, no question. I talked to Grant, talked to Chauncey, talked to Jamal... Talked to just everybody I possibly could.

What was your pitch to convince those guys?

CP: My thing was, first of all, this is a first-class organization. Our front office and our staff is one of the best in the league. I also was just telling them how fun it would be to play with me, Blake [Griffin], DeAndre [Jordan] and Caron Butler.

Clippers overpaying Monkeyball pretty much seals their fate as a for-profit team and not a winning team. Monkeyball shouldn't make more than 14 mil
