de Colo is playing a little Ginobili-ish, which I like. He just authored a slick pass but his shitty team mate couldn't catch it.

Colo just made a damn nice move! Great length too!

how is patty playing?

I just began watching, but he looks very quick out there. Still riding the high he got from the GSW game it looks like. He's a step faster than everyone else.

First time watching Colo. He looks like he is not afraid to drive and take the shot. Haven't seen him out there with Tony yet, but it looks like France uses him in the Ginobili mold and allows him to man the second unit.

Tony misses a chippy, then turns it over two times with terrible passes. WTF

Parker just passed the ball STRAIGHT to a yellow jersey. Big fuck up.

Australia won 69-67.

Mills and De Colo were good.
Parker and Diaw were bad.

Australia with Mills (and no Bogut) is about as talented relative to the USA team as the 1980 USA hockey team was relative to USSR.

I am not saying Australia is good.
I am saying those that think USA is a lock this year have forgotten 1980 Lake Placid (and 1972 Munich, 1988 Seoul and 2004 Athens [Ginobili!].
USAs best competition is Spain, and I have nightmares of Ibaka going 11 for 11.

Left field suggestion but a cheap big that might be worth looking at would be Aaron Baynes. Old school bruiser could be a good fit

Mills torched one eyed Tony today it was nuts. Mills was always a step ahead and wasn't a turnover machine unlike the Spurs MVP.

I'm surprised.

Australia is overall a very untalented side. They will fight hard and play defense, but in the end, I have my doubts about them being able to create these sort of results during the real thing.

Aussies did alright to win that, we're not really chasing wins in the games leading up to the Olympics. Typical Brett Brown/Spurs don't show everything and use up everyones energy in meaningless games. Looking at the minutes in that box score tells me that we didn't really chase that win and still got it. It's not even that strong of an Aussie squad which makes our form even all the more impressive. Good job by Brett.

I was very impressed by de Colo. Hopefully this is a trend that will allow Manu to retire soon without the Spurs tanking hard.

The Spurs have their 1/2/3 of the future already, and a big man who is in his prime.

How did Mills defend Tony?

How did Mills defend Tony?

Mills didn't defend a lot on TP. They put a young player (Matthew Dellavedova) on Parker and he did well. The few minutes where Mills was defending Parker, he was fine too. Saying that, Parker wasn't pushing hard in this game and his priority was obviously not to get injured before the Olympics.

Mills should be our backup PG. He was great in Portalnd, he was great for us last year in limited minutes, and he has all the tools we need in our backup PG. Why do people have so little faith in him when he's a proven NBA backup?

He hasn't played in any big playoff games has he? It's the experience thing IMO, plus people don't want to see anymore Bonner's that completely choke and disappear in the playoffs. Hopefully Patrick can play well in the playoffs.

I thought Pop should have given him a chance when Neal was struggling. Didn't Pop bench Beno in the 2007 playoffs for Jacque Vaughn? Pop used to make these moves, but now that we need them more, he just doesn't do it.

4 out of ten players playing in 3rd qtr are Spurs players..

De Colo played better than TP and France coach still gave the last play to TP ( and it was a 3pt attempt )

Patty has been carrying the ball in pressure situations for Australia since he was 19 years old, and succeeding, I actually think he may become one of those players who actually makes a name for themselves in post season play. He is never afraid to take the game winner, not a lot of guys are like that.

After one practice match I love how people hate TP now. But I am in favour of Patty Mills being backup PG

I remember when he hit those back to back dagger threes to secure the win over Golden State. :toast

And if he's half as clutch as Horry, then... :lobt2:

Oh and DeColo should eat Neal's minutes too...

As someone else said, he understands pressure because he's led the Aussie team for years.

I agree with you that he should've been given a shot when Neal faltered.

I think everyone is going to be shocked at how good Patty is for us next season. Remember, he's also playing for a decent sized contract, and he's only 23. Kid has a lot of improvement in him.

Shane Heal had some big games for Australia and I didn't consider him an NBA level player that would excel in the NBA Playoffs because of that. Hopefully Patrick is a lot better and can play under playoff pressure and intensity. I do like him, and want him to succeed.

Spurs should have picked him instead of Jack Mclinton in that draft. I saw he was still on the board, and wanted Patrick when that pick came up. I thought the Spurs might take him, but I guess they were looking for shooters back then, and I don't think Patrick could shoot it anywhere near as well as he does now.

Yeah I'm expecting Mills to have the best season of his career come 2013. Unless the world ends on December 21st, of course.

Shane Heal was an arrogant cockhead for the most part who thought he was the best and wouldn't listen to people. Patty Cakes isn't like that as far as I know

Mills is good but he can't play good defense because he is so small but I love his outside shot. He is a shorter version of Neal with much better ball handling skills and with him playing well and Nando playing good I gotta think we are going to have to move Neal. :(

Mills plays surprisingly good defense. He's all over the opposing point guard and his lateral quickness is almost unmatched. Big upgrade over Neal's defense.
