His selfish chucking and overall lameness seems to disappear in Oly games.
Okay duh, the team is so much better and (apparantly) Coach K and/or the fellow teamates are not putting up with his crap. Still, the Knicks were not the US Oly team and look how well they rocked before MarshMellow came back to ruin it. Granted, the Knicks were not knocking off powerhouses but nonetheless we are talking the Knicks! For (*&^ s sake they were on a roll for the 1st time in years.

Which begets the question, were he on a team with a coach and organizations backing that would demand he play team ball or GTFO could he be an excellent role player?

I'm pretty sure he'll flourish under Phil Jackson or Pat Riley. Pair him with Lebron James as the second banana and Lebron will make sure Melo retires with a championship ring.

Too many years in Denver ruined any chance of him maturing into a fundamentally sound basketball player.

melo would flourish in pop's system. Just sit in the corner & chunk 3s and the occasional baseline drive.

If Coach Karl can't turn him into a competent player, no one can.

he may be just too slow to play SF in NBA rhythm imho. trim 30 pounds off his fat ass or change his position to PF and he's a great player in NBA too
