Just picked up a meal before work and I noticed 80% of the people in the lobby were fatasses with fat kids as well. This is a growing problem tbh, who is to blame? The fast food restaurants or the parents who allow their kids to not play sports/excercise and eat like shit?

Seriously, there were 5 year olds that were probably right around 100 pounds chomping down on a big mac

35.7% of the adult population in the US is obese. That's ONE FUCKING THIRD!

17% of kids are obese as well...

In Galveston, I see fat kids here and there when I go to McD's. Back home, they almost but not quite pollute every fast food restaurant...it's pretty sad.

Are we to assume you walked in there for statistic purposes?

You are part of the blame for going in there in the first place.

You finally noticed such a trend? It's nothing new.

What ever you do, it's not the Fast Food places that are to blame. They are only offering what sells the best.

We have an obesity problem too but when I'm at Maccas I don't see that many fatties. Maybe it's just my area. Not that many overweight people around

It's a misconception that fast food leads to morbid obesity. Morbidly fat people didn't get that way from buying single burgers. They buy in bulk. They hit the Golden Corrals and look for food bargains. They grocery shop for big quantities. I don't know if the OP realizes it, but morbidly obese people could eat a Chinese kid as an appetizer. Ever see those shows about how much these fat fuckers eat in one meal? I'm talking like a pound of bacon, a dozen eggs, half a loaf of bread, 20 sausage links, 10 pancakes... that kind of shit. The burger and fries things doesn't help, but even those fat ass Michelin Man looking kids are over fed at home more than at fast food joints.

Our citizens just protested gay marriage by driving to a greasy fast food joint and stuffing their fat mouths with mediocre chicken.

Are you suggesting we should put a carbon tax on fat people?

even if you put a fat tax on fatty foods, doesnt make a difference cause they will end up costing ur health system...

best solution is either increase their health premiums or just tell them if they continue with such diet, refuse surgery when needed

The blame is not on the restaurants, it's on all these overweight cats themselves for stuffing their face with unhealthy food instead of working to live a healthy lifestyle....

Fat kids are victims of child abuse-we need to prosecute some fat parents for harming their kids. If their butts are paying fines for slowly killing their kids they will change their behaviors. Employer-based health insurance should be required to cap benefits on plans at a certain BMI and coverage charged out-of-pocket, paid for with after tax dollars at a ratio based on BMI after that. This already happens on privately purchased plans.

There are exceptions, no doubt. However, if it's food that's to blame, it's probably not the type of food as much as the quantity of food. I am talking about morbidly obese people, not just fat people. Anyone can get fat with a couple months of eating too much, too late or as M>S said, slowed metabolism resulting from binge eating/fasting.

Wiki states:

Obesity is most commonly caused by a combination of excessive food energy (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Food_energy) intake, lack of physical activity, and genetic susceptibility (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Polygenic_inheritance), although a few cases are caused primarily by genes (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Gene), endocrine (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Endocrine) disorders, medications (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Medication) or psychiatric illness (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Psychiatric_illness). Evidence to support the view that some obese people eat little yet gain weight due to a slow metabolism is limited; on average obese people have a greater energy expenditure than their thin counterparts due to the energy required to maintain an increased body mass.[4] (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Obesity#cite_note-3)[5] (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Obesity#cite_note-Anes2000-4)

Also, from a personal anecdotal experience, really fat/obese people tend to treat food as a reward. They don't stop eating until they cannot eat more unless they get embarrassed. Thin people often tend to stop eating once they are no longer hungry. I've known some big people who are enamored with food. They indulge as if it's a grand pleasure in life, and while eating breakfast they will be talking about lunch.

The next time you get around someone who's really fat, just watch how they look at their food as if they are about to make love to it.

The problem is with people who eat it, and partly the companies themselves. McDonald's lures adults to eat there because it brought them pleasant experiences as children. In other words, they get adults to eat there because of nostalgia, among other things (ease is another factor). But by now, with all the research that has been done regarding the lack of health of fast foods, it is mainly the fault of adults and their bad decisions.

Wow so "pleasant experience as children" is the same thing as "nostalgia"? Thanks!
