Lee Eddins had hoped he would be able to watch his idol, center Roy Hibbert, play in person when the Indiana Pacers visit Sacramento, Calif., for a game against the Kings in late November.

But Lee, 12, is not expected to live that long.

Diagnosed with stage four leukemia six months ago, Lee has been told he might only have a couple of weeks left to live.

So Hibbert has planned a special surprise. Later this week, he is flying to Sacramento to meet Lee.

"Once I heard he had a dying wish, I knew I had to do something more than send him presents and Skype with him on the computer," Hibbert said.

"I'm usually uncomfortable going to hospitals when the Pacers do events because it's pretty tough to see kids in that situation. Once I heard about (Lee), I realized I had to get over it and do it for him."Roy Hibbert : CLASS

So classy, he should be an honorary Spur.

Ok, he should actually be a Spur, but we don't get high-caliber free agents unless they are past 35, so that's a pipe dream.

It was from the work he did with Tim last summer. Spurs are so classy they can afford to give it to other teams too. :cry :cry :cry

Hibbert was on the way to the Indianapolis airport when he was informed of Lee's death. The 7-footer still flew to California to meet Lee's family.

Pure class.

This is really sad. Did the kid know before he died that Hibbert was actually gonna come and meet him?

nigga will grow to be a dominant C given good guidance & patience imho and it seems he's already cemented his status as an american idol with his great considerateness. dude & DH will probably be equally good in the game a few years from now while off the court, the bitchass nigga won't be nowhere close tbh

The family did, Hibbert said. He did now knew if the kid knew.

That's awful. I'm sure Hibbert felt terrible about it even though there's nothing you can do. Good gesture to go visit his family. It's scary how much Roy Hibbert improved as a player the last offseason. There's no one 7'2+ out there as talented as him now that Yao's retired. It's sad to hear that the kid didn't get to meet him.
