He set Orlando back 15 years. He knew eventually the Magic would have to trade D12. Too many burnt bridges in Orlando for him to return there. That lessened his value. While Houston, NJN, Mavs, and other teams came up with crazy proposal after crazy proposal, creating milli:lolns in cap space - MK stayed the course. Not only did Orlando lose D12, they hired Jacque Vaughn as coach and don't have Bynum to build around. :lol

MK is a pimp. :hat

Is Mitch beginning to groom his predecessor yet? After this, he has given the franchise post-Kobe financial security. Deserves to retire in a few years.

funny how after the vetoing of the cp3 trade, the value of gasol hit rock bottom. and now that he is paired up with howard, hes value is sky rocketing, so it must of all been part of his plan to own the NBA and eventually shit on stern.

Not taking anything away from mitch, but being in a market like LA helps... niggas are killing eachother to head there, and when they leave they get mentally devastated (see: Odom, Lamar).

ur right a little, but at the same time its hard to want to play wit ha player like kobe, some players feel reluctant that he has all the spotlight, but the nba has evolved and that does not matter, but still

Kwame - PAU
CP3- Vetoed
Bynum- DWIGHT
choosing kobe over shaq..

the market can only goes so far. you need a solid guy to make these deals happen and MK is that man

Gasol's career will be revitalized with these moves. Nash/Pau PNR will be lethal. Being the best passing big man in the game means we'll see a lot of Pau to D12 lobs or passes to Kobe going back door (Colorado style :lol). Rebounding will alo be boss with Pau/D12.

I'm still in shock with what MK has been able to do. :toast

In Mitch's defense, he is expected to build a championship squad in a matter of months. True he has a lot to work with, but he's got a shitload of pressure. Getting Dwight for Bynum probably took a lot of effort, under the table deals and miracle dust.

It's all about the $$$... People that kept saying "Dwight won't leave <whatever> on the table" forget that 4 years in LA means endorsement money he's not going to make anywhere else except New York, and unlike his salary, he won't have to return any of it to the owners.

Mitch is having too much fun to retire. He said earlier in the year that he is very lucky to have the job that he does.

Jerry West helping the Warriors FO = 15-7
Mitch Kupchak spending on a 100 million dollar roster = 9-13

Reaction of fans of 29 NBA teams = priceless

If Pau Gasol didn't fall into his lap he'd be vilified in Lakerland.

Kobe basically said before the 2007-2008 season he was demanding a trade because Kupchak couldn't carry Jerry West's jockstrap. Sure enough, the student's career was saved because of a trade the teacher arranged :lmao

Yep.

He was a pariah in Los Angeles until the teacher bailed out his dumb ass. This is the guy who thought trading Caron Butler for Kwame Brown was a good move.

Signing Steve Nash was probably the worst decision of his career.

Nash has been in collect-a-paycheck mode since '08, is 40 years old and can't stay healthy, is one of the worst defenders in the league, and Mitch, whose team has notorious trouble stopping quick PGs, thought it wise to trade 4 draft picks for him and give him a 3 year, 27 million dollar contract.

What?
