tbqmfh he started to come on toward the end of last year but i think someone else will be the starter by the time the season is over.

If you are asking for Fantasy reasons, that was a fool's gold touchdown aided by some very nice blocking.

From the Donald Brown I've seen, it doesn't matter who the QB is or how good the line is, he's a shit running back in every way. He's indecisive and the wind changing direction is enough to tackle him.

The thing I liked most out of Luck today aside from him going right back to Collie for the clutch 3rd down conversion on the play right after Collie dropped that easy ball (most rookie QB get scared and don't go to the same guy in that situation) was the scrambling. Those would have all been coverage sacks with Manning.

he has terrible vision and can't pick up blocks to save his life. to his credit the colts never really gave him a good line, but he needs a wide open hole and some swole sitchoassdown blocks downfield to get those big plays

While I put well nothing into preseason football Luck is going to be a solid NFL QB. He has it rudden all over him.

Donald Brown has a career avg of 4.2, he can go the distance as we've seen a few times. While it's debatable if he's "feature back" material he is an asset if put in the right spots/situation.

In college I didn't realize he was such a great athlete. Then when you got to see some of his workouts I was really amazed at the athletic ability.

Hard to judge how good this team can be. The most impressive thing today for me was the defense only giving up that field goal. The Rams are rebuilding too so it's not really a fair assessment. Let's see how they do against Pittsburgh next week before we all start sucking each other's dicks.

Its hard to find any flaws in Luck right now. Good footwork, decision-making, size, mobility, accuracy.

I could see the Colts winning at least 6 games.

Take away just one run from Browns career (his 80 yarder last year) and his average dips below 4. It's not even debatable if he's feature back material...he really does suck lol.

----------------------

As for Luck I'm really not sure why people are expecting him to come in and struggle? He's basically a much more talented sam bradford and has some decent weapons to throw to still. All the people before the draft who jumped on RG3's bandwagon and said he is better only did so because Griffin is brand new and we've seen Luck be awesome for three years.

I remember when Luck was a freshman and Harbaugh said he had the best quarterback in the nation on his team...he was right. By his 3rd year, Luck will be putting up Aaron Rodgers type numbers.

Good that he has Wayne and Collie to throw to--that'll help his growing process and after they get him the talent in the future, he'll be top-5 someday.

The Colts approached that game like it was the frickin Super Bowl. Rookie coach looking to impress the fans, and on a national stage....gameplanning and blitzing against a St Louis vanilla defense(hang your hat on that)....Colts kept the starters in for nearly a full half in pre season game 1? :lol

No matter how good Luck is I don't think JT or anyone else in this thread is saying the Colts are gonna be good this year, just that Luck looked good last week (which he unquestionably did).

IMO, if they're bad enough this year where they can draft Lotulelei that'll help them a lot since Mathis and Freeney will be a lot more effective at OLB if they add a swole nose tackle.

need lots of good defensive backs too. maybe they won't be as bad as i think but indy's secondary is probably a free 300 yard day to any good qb this year.

Disagree...ever since the pick-6 he's had great pocket presence and has been quite impressive. Most rookies would shit themselves against this D, especially after making a mistake.

Btw, what a beautiful playcall on the goal line there.

Don Don is a solid player, man. Word on the street around here is that he didn't get much spin before because Peyton didn't want him on the field for this bad blocking skills.

Retard media ignorantly posts "2 interceptions" when the one pass was right in the receivers arms open by 8 yards on a blown Steeler assignment. He somehow juggles the ball 10 feet over to the lucky assed Steeler db.

DK why lame assed NFL can't have a stat for "dropped pass" instead of INT.
Lets see, QBs objective is to deliver ball to receiver. He does that perfectly yet gets penalized for receiver screw up?

J.T.
08-26-2012, 07:55 AM
Colts offensive line and run game is straight garbage. Luck needs to work on getting rid of the ball faster, but that's about the only thing he needs to work on. He'll take a lot of unnecessary sacks this year if he doesn't. Looked great moving around when the pocket broke down yesterday. Kind of weird to see a Colts QB do that. Peyton would have probably been forced into a bad throw or two behind that line, but he also would have adjusted the protections. Not really expecting Luck to master all of that by the third preseason game, but he has some things to work on. Not many though, he's going to be great and soon. Definitely made the right move letting Peyton go.

While I but little into the preseason because of the simple defense played it's very obvious Luck is the real deal. Obviouly he'll never be another Peyton or Johnny U but few are.

Two more drafts, a couple seasons for Luck to get NFL expereince and a couple big free agent signing and the Colts will be contending for a playoff spot.

I would say that comparison is more suited to Peyton when he was a Colt. Obviously the Colts are not a good team, or else they wouldn't have had the right to select Luck in the draft. But had they finished with the No. 2 pick I don't think they would have dumped their entire roster and rebuilt with Robert Griffin III.

The great thing about being a Colts fan right now apart from the obvious great future we have at the QB position is that the Manning money comes off the books after this year. So if any big name free agents are available on defense, we have money to spend on that. I don't think we would have hired Pagano from Baltimore to be our head coach if we didn't want to be a defense-first team. As much as I am accustomed to the Colts scoring points instead of preventing them, I'd rather have a team that hangs its hat on defense whilst having Luck at QB than have Luck be the second coming of Peyton and the defense be a question mark for his entire career.

I think the big thing in Indy right now is not repeating the mistakes we made with Manning and actually build a complete team, not one that falls apart without the QB. If they spend any money on offensive free agent, it had better be on top shelf offensive linemen. I am sick and tired of the Colts not being able to run the ball. It's a passing league, but you can't put your QB in 3rd and 9 all day. That's what happened yesterday. And you're right about the preseason not being a good measuring stick. But yesterday the Colts showed that they can't run the ball and can't afford to make a single mistake on offense or else they're punting. On a team that's set to field at least 10 rookies this year, that's not good. This year is the honeymoon year for everyone new to the franchise. My expectations are higher because I smell blood in the water in a weak AFC South. I'm not saying playoffs, but 3-3 in the division is a fair expectation. They need two household name corners and an elite safety on defense before you can say they are a contender.

Try winning with a QB in third and long most the time. So while we hear...NFL a passing league....that's sort of a cart before the horse type situation. How many times have we heard in these preson games about needing that running game? The thing is it makes everything easier if you have one. Just ask the Niners and the Ravens. Then there are those bad weather games where trying to throw...........

The Colts will have a solid QB for the next 10 years or so. They will pay the $$$$$ to surround Luck with talent. So it is just a matter of time, they are a winning franchise and will continue to be that. Two seasons and they will be back in the mix. They do need a stud back, Brown isn't the answer.

I like T.Y Hilton he was incredible at Fla Int, one of those can to it all game breakers. Something the Colts haven't had since way back in the day and Joe Washington.
