Who surprised you the most in this department?
Derrick Coleman could've been so fucking good, imho...but ultimately came up lame for the majority of his career.
Laettner, Mateen Cleaves, Tyus Edney, Scotty Thurman (thought he would be a good shooter in the pros), and others come to mind. Also thought Juan Dixon would've had longer staying power in the NBA as well.

Scotty Thurman...wtf???
I'll throw out Roy Marble
Halberto

Michael Beasley
Not exactly a dud, but the dude was a straight up beast at K-state. Consistently put up monster stats and didn't seem to perform any worse against quality competition.

yeah...Thurman had that great year at Arkansas and i bought the hype. I still remember that dagger rainbow 3 against Duke in the Finals. I think it still hasn't landed yet:lol

I thought Waymon Tisdale would make a bigger splash. He did good, but in college he was really amazing.

total clutch for sure. glad they finally got the title. bad timing for the Miller, Mayberry, Day group.
Good call on Fizer. Thought he was going to be similar to Kenyon Martin.

lol Sean May...that's a good one. Joe Forte comes to mind from the UNC tree too...idiot came out of college way too soon
I was fairly young at time but I thought Todd Day was expected to be a lot better in the NBA. Same with Trajan Langdon.
Also, Tyler Hansbrough was one of the best players in UNC history, but as of now he seems like little more than a rich man's Lou Amundson.

Everyone knew Cleaves would be awful: no size, no strength, no athleticism, no jumpshot. He was a much much worse version of Avery Johnson minus the speed.
Beasley and Morrison are definitely two that come to mind. Morrison was so good at hitting fadeaways and circus shots that I figured he'd have no problem getting his shot off in the NBA. My favorite bust all-time is Bruin legend Jerome Moiso. Charmin-soft, skinny, and couldn't make it to the end of the rotation of an awful Celtics team.

:cryCavaliers traded Charles Oakley's rights for Keith Lee:cry
Remember George Zidek from UCLA? IIRC Charlotte used a first-round pick on him. That didn't work out well. Come to think of it, none of those '95 Bruins made much of an impact at the NBA level.

Coleman wasn't just a college beast, he actually displayed his talents during his first few years in the NBA..his first 5 seasons were 20-10 or so IIRC, and he had a complete game, albeit limited by his mental incompetence..
He was arguably the biggest waste of talent in NBA history, tbh..
His potential was a man making 6-figure salary's Demarcus Cousins..

Did I say anything about shooting? I'm just saying he was unstoppable in college and has been good in NBA but was trying to see if people thought he has under-produced. I haven't seen enough of him personally

rofl obviously Anthony Randolph is my choice, although I guess he was never really dominant in college. Maybe he'll work out in George Karl's system tbh.
there's a radio guy in Dallas who kept saying that Tractor Traylor would be the best player in the draft, went nuts when the Mavs took him, then a few minutes later swore the Mavericks would rue the day they traded Traylor for Dirk :lmao

Okafor was solid 15-10 guy who played good defense for his first few seasons in the NBA, I dont think anyone really expected more out of him especially since he was like a 24 yr old senior coming out of college IIRC. Although there were retards like Stephen A. Smith who thought he shouldve been the first overall pick ahead of Dwight. Gordon can still be a reallyy good 6th man for a championship team imo, which was his ceiling from the beginning since he brings little else to the table besides scoring.
Out of the UConn guys I actually think Villanueva flopped the hardest. 6-10 dude that played like a guard, I expected him to turn out similar to a pre-Dallas Odom and instead has been a Dallas Odom his entire career.

Aw yeah I forgot about him.
Also the list of white flops can go on and on tbh...
Laettner

Dunleavy Jr
Croshere
Troy Murphy
Luke Jackson
Hansbro
Big Country Reeves
JJ Reddick
Jimmer
Pavel Podkolzin :lmao
etc
I dont even know why GMs choose these honkeys when the chances of getting a Kevin Love are like one in a thousand tbh.
How did it take so long for Emeka Okafor and Ben Gordon to be mentioned?
Because while Dwight is head and shoulders above those two they've turned out to be serviceable role players?
Sure Gordon fell off a cliff after he signed with Detroit and Okafor's starting to be injury-prone, but Gordon won 6th Man of the Year as a rookie and Okafor won Rookie of the Year and was a pretty good double-double machine (and started over Chandler on the Bobcats :lmao).
Hinrich was pretty good until he got a few injuries then fell off a cliff while in Washington/Atlanta. Reinsdorf hopes he gets the old Captain Kirk back :lmao

He's about a career 13 ppg scorer. I would say that's how most people expected him to be
