It's a bit of a clusterfuck Manny. The argument has nothing to do with aiding drought stricken farmers. Virtually everyone wants to do that. It's about the bloat in the food stamp program. There were some cuts to the program and democrats won't vote for it. The real question is why are food stamps even part of an agriculture bill? It was a historical bribe to get urban legislators to vote for the farm bill.

It's called the 10Ms of additional people marginalized by your richie friends who brought us the Banksters Great Depression.
Do you really expect the worst depression in 80 years to see no increase in safety net spending?
Do you want these people cut just like the Repugs forced the cutoff of unemployment benefits?
Or do you agree with Heritage F. that poor US people aren't really poor and can buy their own food?
btw, SNAP pays about $125/month. Gotta pay for all the Cadillacs and bling St Ronnie says welfare people and the "young bucks" have. :lol

uhhh...this is a 5 year bill. The Senate and the House both proposed cuts. Y'all keep saying the economy is improving. We don't need to keep the record levels of participation and funding.

That is flat out wrong. There are food shortages at all of the food banks. Sure you wont starve to death in most cases, but the aid many people get is barely enough to sustain life. Millions in America are malnourished. So I guess what you guys are saying is that just because starvation in america isn't as severe as starvation in Africa that it's a nonissue?

Yes, take an intermediate level macroeconomics course and you learn that decreasing the opportunity cost for the unemployed creates disincentive to work. More welfare leads to higher unemployment and lower incomes for EVERYONE, even those employed.
What you've done now is uncovered the democratic party scam. Their entire agenda is to keep people poor and in chains, dependent on the democratic party and the system. They will return again and again to vote in exchange for a handout.

Dude, you're not listening. Even WITH assistance, it's usually only enough to sustain life but not enough to have a full stomach and be healthy. Millions are not quite "starving" but are malnourished and may only get 2 meals a day. The economic situation is getting so bad here that after all the rationing is complete, people still walk away with less than enough to eat. People on this board for whatever reason tend to be more educated or better off than the average person, many here have advanced degrees or are pursuing them. Most of us, myself included, have never missed a meal. It's hard for some of us who are out of touch with the poor to imagine, but it actually is happening.

Brother, I help prepare the food and pass it out every Friday.
Your starvation scenario, I'm saying if you want 2 maybe 3 meals a day in the USA you will get it free of charge. God bless

So you're just going to laugh in the face of statistics showing that millions of americans are starving, and simply chalk it up to them being too stupid to go to a food bank or hit up the welfare line? Wow, that is really really dumb.

Brother, not to be a jerk, what is it....starving or malnourished? People do not starve in the USA if they don't want to or have awful parents like cc said. God bless

I know that I would live on boiled fideo before I would let my kid be malnourished, under educated, or in any way not given the opportunity to be 100% of what they can be. I'm possibly one of the hated 1% (not sure statistically) but I intentionally limited my family to two children so I could give them every opportunity for success.
