I was rummaging through some old VHS tapes and found the 90-91 Spurs season review, so I captured the footage and uplaoded to Youtube for Spurs fans' viewing pleasure...

Brings back good and bad memories: the good being how exciting that young Spurs core was of Robinson, Cummings, Elliott, Anderson, and Strickland. The bad being the 1st round flame out vs Golden State after such high expectations from the previous year's playoffs.

Enjoy!

I really like the first 30 seconds of that first video.

Great footage from the great days of playing Houston 5 or 6 times a season. Is that program like the NFL yearbook for basketball? Great stuff.

This is awesome. Gotta love late 80s / early 90s graphic design standards.

Thanks for uploading :tu

I also have the 89-90 "A Season to Remember" video of Robinson's rookie year.

Also, the 88-89 season report, but it has very little basketball footage it's mostly just 15-20 minutes of Red McCombs using stats and charts to explain why they must raise ticket prices "to compete in today's NBA."

Great stuff, man. That Strickland bar-fight still pisses me off, as it allowed McCombs to be cheap and not pay his ass in 93. It really screwed DRob's legacy over since AJ didn't become very good until 98 and since the pre-AJ points were spectacular failures.

I was a season ticket holder that year, and they made tickets unbelievably cheap for 88-89. I had awesome lower level seats for about $7.50 a game if I recall right. Of course they went way up for 89-90, but no one was complaining with DRob in the mix and the team an instant contender.

Yeah, the Spurs made some horrible roster moves in the early 90s. Hard to believe after they made so many great moves in 89: namely, trading Alvin Robertson and all his baggage for a true professional in Terry Cummings, who also happened to be an outstanding scorer and an incredible fit next to David, taking a chance on Sean Elliott when his knee brace scared everyone else off, and then trading a disgruntled and completely done Maurice Cheeks for Rod Strickland.

LOL, how did the Knicks end up running crap like Chris Childs and Charlie Ward at point when they once had a young Strickland and a young Mark Jackson on the same roster? :lmao

when it seemed all was lost then they trade the stiff Sidney Green for the good Antoine Carr.

Carr was a great pickup, but their other moves were pretty questionable. Namely, letting Strickland walk for nothing, not getting in on the Barkley sweepstakes when Philadelphia only ended up getting Hornacek + crap, signing Del Negro to replace Strickland, trading out of the 91 and 93 first round, trading for a suicidal Rodman, etc. Thank god for Pop coming in and turning the franchise back on the right course by trading Bill Curley for Elliott in 94.
