Looks interesting enough to give it a whirl. Anyone else plan on watching?

From Wiki:

The show is about the renegade crew of a United States Navy Ohio-class ballistic missile submarine, the fictional USS Colorado (SSBN-753), that defies an order to launch nuclear missiles towards Pakistan, a decision that cost the previous commanding officer his job when he refused to follow similar orders without an explanation or confirmation. When his replacement also questions the same orders, the vessel is fired upon without warning and the crew are left for dead. Realizing that they have been declared enemies of their own country, they set up camp on the fictional island of Sainte Marina, and declare themselves a sovereign nation with nuclear capability. At the same time, the crew must find a way to prove their innocence and find out who set them up so that they can return home to America. [2]

I give the pilot a B+. Worth checking out. It will probably do pretty well.

I saw the previews for it at the movies. Looked pretty bad, IMO.

Best case scenario, it could be about as good as an average season of 24... Not as good as the best seasons, but good enough in terms of a broadcast network guilty pleasure political thriller to keep you interested.

Worst case scenario, the twists and scandals snowball in ridiculousness to the point where you just don't care anymore. It's not going to win any writing or acting awards, and there's no Jack Bauer to overcome silly storylines and scenarios like 24 had at times.

After watching a lot of the pilots for NBC, ABC, CBS and FOX, these are the only new shows I'll probably go back for more on:

- Last Resort(ABC)

- Revolution (NBC) - This may suffer from the same weaknesses I described for Last Resort, but I like the concept enough to stick around for a few episodes to see what happens. The acting is even worse in this one, though... especially the lead girl.

- The Mindy Project (FOX) - She's going to get on a lot of people's nerves, but I thought the pilot was really funny and that's not usually the case for comedies. Good pairing with New Girl.

- 666 Park Avenue (ABC) - I'll check this one out with some reservation. Expect B-movie, campy horror... like a PG American Horror Story.

- The Following (FOX) - By far the one I'm most interested in. The first episode would make a great stand-alone film. Reminds a little bit of Se7en and Zodiac. Unfortunately doesn't come on until January.

Go On and The New Normal on NBC were pretty good comedy pilots too, but not sure how much I'll be interested week-to-week. Also, since Matthew Perry is in Go On, it'll probably be cancelled before the 10th episode.

Nashville on ABC is decent for women who like soapy stuff and don't mind terrible country music.

Elementary, Vegas and Partners on CBS will probably do well, because they're on CBS and people love their shows for some reason.

Is this the one where power goes out and they revert to the 18th century in terms of evolution?

That one has potential.

This doesn't appear to match the plot description I gave above. Sorry.

I think the whole project will hinge on the reasoning behind why the crew decides not to follow orders. That could be given as a very deep and complex puzzle, or it could be simplistic and essentially derail the series before it starts.

I'd have thought that a nuclear scientist wouldn't let his mind rot away by watching the dumb box, tbh..

Aubrey Bowers tbh

I've loved him since I watched Homicide years ago.

I'll go back and watch it if it makes it through a season.

I am curious to see Chiklis and the period sets, outfits, cars, etc., in Vegas -- though I was slightly disappointed it wasn't a remake of Vega$.

I watched all 3 eps today. It's pretty sad when the only likable character on the show is a war criminal. It's a silly show, to say the least.

I'll keep watching the same reason I keep watching the walking dead - hoping to see some annoying characters die. Like the girl who's always crying and whining about her brother.
Yeah, the show is funny but for all the wrong reasons. You have to leave all common sense at the door when watching :lol

ROFL

I totally forgot about this show.

The way NBC does their thing, this show will be canned by season's end. :lol
