The TroutBum, you are completely wrong about Belcher. Who are your faves at MW? Belcher owns them all, even Weidman if you like that dude too. Doesn't matter, I trane UFC and my opinion is more explosive...more explosive than the diarrhea you spewed about the Cain/JDS fight. Cain will get the title back, BROWN POWER!

Still a good fight..

And I am going to pick Cain for this event. Listening to JDS interviews of late this guy has his head up his ass. His ego is a mess. He recently said he could KO Wlad Klitchko in straight boxing and is very dismissive of Cain's chances in this rematch. He is begging for a wakeup call...

Respectfully disagree, but you do have points. As far as dbreiden spouting his usual nonsense about anyone not named GSP... wtf? I haven't seen or heard him talking shit at all. Maybe I missed something? If so, I'd like some linkage por favor.

All in all, I'm pretty bent -- that was the Main Event for me.

The TroutBum
11-22-2012, 11:32 PM
Well, shit. The card has changed so much since I first posted, I think I'll start over.

Champ Junior Dos Santos vs. Cain Velasquez - for heavyweight title - Cain looked pretty scary against Big Foot, but then again, he was fighting Big Foot. JDS by KO again, likely in the first two minutes. WHITE MORMON PRIDE, BITCH.
Phil Davis vs. Forrest Griffin - Who cares? Why would Davis even bother with this fight? Lose/Lose in my opinion: Win and who cares, it's an aging old turd who has publicly stated that he doesn't give a shit about his fighting career. Lose, and wow, you just lost to the guy who doesn't even take this seriously. Man, I hate Forrest Griffin.

Tim Boetsch vs. Constantinos Philippou - I'm not sure why I'm picking Boetsch to lose, because I want him to win so badly... but I think he got lucky against Okami, and Okami sucks ass. Philippou is the real deal.
Joe Lauzon vs. Jim Miller - This pick also has me baffled. I want Lauzon to win, and I think he will, but for some reason I just think Miller might pull it off. He's too good and was on such a roll before he lost to that shit head, and he just kind of vanished. This might be just the fight he needs to get back on the radar.
Alan Belcher vs. Yushin Okami - Another big "who cares?" with two guys that are never going to amount to shit.
Chris Leben vs. Karlos Vemola - They reward a cheater coming off a suspension with a main card fight? That's bullshit. I don't know who Vemola is, and I can't recall seeing him fight, but fuck Leban and his shriveled nut sack.
Leonard Garcia vs. Cody McKenzie - Finally, a Cody McKenzie fight that makes sense. Hopefully this will be the final experiment with him. How he's gotten so many fights is beyond me. Loved him in TUF and I like him as a fighter, but damn he sucks.

100% agree dbreiden

I also used to like Forest and Phil should win easily. Griffin not much improved his game during his career in UFC even though he worked hard.

This card is very good. And I hope Cain will destroy Santos. Both guys can hit hard. But wrestling is the thing that should make the difference. Let's see how great takedown defense will JDS have.

Junior Dos Santos vs. Cain Velasquez
Joe Lauzon vs. Jim Miller
Tim Boetsch vs. Constantinos Philippou

I think JDS is way overconfident and Cain is coming back very hungry and focused.

Gut feeling says, Cain wins this rematch...

txstr1986
12-19-2012, 11:42 AM
Main card:

Junior Dos Santos vs. Cain Velasquez - Cain is a better all-around fighter, so as long as he can avoid a JDS kill shot he should win. If he takes JDS to the ground this fight is over.
Joe Lauzon vs. Jim Miller
Tim Boetsch vs. Constantinos Philippou - I don't really know why, but I just find Philippou to be annoying...
Alan Belcher vs. Yushin Okami - should be an enjoyable fight
Chris Leben vs. Karlos Vemola - Vemola isn't that good, I think Leben easily wins this one.

dbreiden83080

The questions on Cain's chin will forever be answered in this fight. He will have to survive some bombs from JDS to get this down consistently...

Brunodf
12-19-2012, 01:28 PM
Junior Dos Santos vs. Cain Velasquez - Cain striking defense is bad, his glass jaw doesn't help, JDS via KO

Tim Boetsch vs. Constantinos Philippou- Boetsch has big wins but was dominated by Okami and he didn't look good in his "win" over Lombard. Ranked just at #25 in the MW division, Philippou is fast and extremely skilled striker, he will take advantage of Boetsch slow footwork/average striking to secure the decision.

Alan Belcher vs. Yushin Okami- Belcher probably has the best shot at beating Anderson Silva than anyone in the MW division but Okami strong grappling/clinch might be too much for him. Okami by decision.

Having just rewatched the first fight, Cain is really going to have to bring his A game here. You can tell that JDS movement and counter striking is a tough style for him. JDS is also fast and a great athlete. The fight comes down to Cain enduring some punishment to get close enough to put his hands on JDS. Also both these guys annoyed me with the injury talk last time. JDS said he had a bum knee, yeah it looked really gimpy as smoothly avoided Cain's strikes and TD attempt and as he was jumping all over the Octagon after he won. And Cain said he had a bum knee as well, the same leg he used to lek kick JDS hard 3 or 4 times. I hate excuses.. Just fight..

Main card:

Junior Dos Santos vs. Cain Velasquez

Tough to predict what's gonna happen, but it seems like fast hands of JDS always prevail and gives m advantage against every HW opponent. Plus his TTD is awesome which gives Cain even less chances to get the W. On the other hand Velasquez wants the revenge badly and he can take JDS down and he also has fast hands. IMO he can do it with his all around game. That's my wish.

Joe Lauzon vs. Jim Miller

Both tough elite guys with extremely open game which may give a W or a L but always with flashy style good to watch. I like both guys. But IMO a faster Lauzon gonna get it done against stronger Miller although those two men has amazing skill-set!

Tim Boetsch vs. Constantinos Philippou

I do not know who to pick. Costa is on a rise and he has brutal power in his hands. Boetsch is more stable guy with gameplan but also tough mofo with stone fists. Tim will put down Costa which earn him the victory.

Alan Belcher vs. Yushin Okami

I waited for Alans fight! He is good, he is crazy good! and that's gonna make him a winner vs Okami - this craziness will lead him. His game is sick and when he smells the blood he goes forward. I hope he will be the champ by the end of a next year.

Brad Pickett vs Eddie Wineland

Another fight of the night written all over this clash. get ready for the fireworks. It's gonna be exciting as hell !

txstr1986

After more consideration and thought on the fights (and a fight card change) I am going to re-do a few of my picks.

Junior Dos Santos vs. Cain Velasquez - I still think that Cain is a better all-around fighter, and so as long as he can avoid a JDS kill shot he should win. However, the more I think about it, the more I don't think that he can avoid that kill shot. JDS is just a horrible matchup for Cain. JDS by KO/TKO.
Joe Lauzon vs. Jim Miller - kind of a toss up, IMHO
Tim Boetsch vs. Constantinos Philippou - I don't really know why, but I just find Philippou to be annoying, and Boetsch has an iron jaw.
Alan Belcher vs. Yushin Okami - should be an enjoyable fight. I do think that Belcher is the better fighter, but I'm just feeling Okami in this one.
Chris Leben vs. Derek Brunson - I've never seen Brunson fight, but he's on a two fight losing streak against nobodies. I think Leben easily wins this one.

My dude Belcher made sure to put on the pounds before the fight and apparently came in at 208 - doesn't look like it helped since Okami just sat on him for 3 rounds. Sure, Belcher came closer to finishing the fight or trying to go for the finish if he had a chance...but Okami dictated everything else. :lol Doing well? What?

All I'm going to remember from this fight from the get go was Dos Santos backing up.. getting punched, kicked, held against the cage, and get taken down over and over..

what fight were you watching? What is "well"?

Stuffed all Cain's tds early

Junior couldn't handle the pressure, all his opponents have either stood there and tried to strike with him or couldn't take him down. Tonight he saw both for the first time.

Damn, looks like I should've stuck with my first prediction... Oh we'll, I guess 2-3 is better than ace's 0-5 ;)

Dana said he heard JDS broke his jaw in 2nd round

Brunodf
12-30-2012, 01:52 AM

2-1

Stuffed all Cain's tds early

In the first round i thought JDS was going to win with his great TDD but the pace Cain put on him really bothered him. JDS was not comfortable backing up so much. What shocked me was in the 1st when he was fresh and stuffing most of the TD's JDS never unloaded with anything heavy.. He was just popping his jab out there..

dbreiden83080

Yeah...Cain looked like the hungry challenger and JDS looked like the fat happy champion. I'm not discounting what Cain did at all, but JDS clearly was caught off guard by Cain's relentlessness. I agree with Manny that the third fight should be awesome now that JDS has gotten to see the best Cain in the octagon.

3rd fight should be good.. Cain probably fights Overeem next..

This is how I thought the first fight was going to go. Cain is a beast, I wish I could have seen it but that card as whole wasnt worth 50 bucks

This card on paper looked amazing, so I was fricking disappointed as hell until Miller vs Louzon fight.

Pace was magnificent on the co-main. Miller was his vicious self and imposed his will and now still on the run for the title shot.

Belcher pissed me off. That gameplan was bad. He probably thought he was better on every aspect of the game then Okami. Why this ground shit when he could outpoint Okami standing up. His mistake also was to let Okami run him to the cage. Damn where is the footwork?
That definitely pushed him off the cliff i title contention. Him vs Boetsch next?

As for the title fight I felt relief that Cain did what he did and what he could. First round showed that JDS has fabulous TDD and is impossible to take him down and hold and finish him there. To me he showed that he is a mofo and has great chin as well.
Dos Santos with his interview with Joe said that this kind of shots were nothing cause he gets them also while training. Well I haven't seen him that damaged on any of the training sessions footage.

Cain needs to get better cause JDs will be back in 2013, if Cain still gonna hold the crown.

If JDS is not careful he is going to become the Rampage of the HW Division. He is too in love with his hands. No kicks, or TD attempts, he did not even clinch and use knees.. Obviously taking Cain down is tough but you have to give him something else to think about other than the boxing..

Well he was knocking out everybody and is almost impossible to be taken down. No surprise he gives his hands a try as he is the best striker in HW division. Plus he has black belt in JJ.

All in all he is too cocky. I wonder who he will fight next.??
maybe if Hunto wins with Struve ...

I don't see him beating Cain in a 3rd fight with the same gameplan. Cain used all his tools, while JDS just boxed..

Even in losing JDS showed a ton of heart and better cardio than i thought he had. Cain was tired in round 5 and slowed down in round 4. But i would like to see JDS get 2 fights in and rework some of his game. He is only 28. Improve some in the next year and fight for the belt again..

So, Belcher lovers... where you at? How on Earth any of you people actually thought he was going to win, or that he even had a prayer, is beyond me. Has he ever won a fight? I'm serious, I don't think I've ever seen him win a fight.

True. Dana always thinks he can get friends and teammates to fight. Goodluck with this one. But if Cormier wants a title shot, unless hes serious about dropping down to 205, its going to have to be against Cain for the foreseeable future

JDS can beat him with a better game plan and some improvements... Anyone who thinks JDS is going anywhere is nuts, the guy is 28. I thought he needed some humble pie in this fight and now that he has eaten it, he will be a better fighter going forward...

the heavy weight division will never be dominated IMO because the guys hit so hard a single punch could end a title reign, I do believe Cain is the best in the world though.

For sure. Dos Santos is only going to improve after that, but Cain is too. His skill swt wont be diminishing anytime soon. Of all the HWs in the UFC though JDS is the best challenger for Cain right now

Um, yes? He was out. It doesn't matter how long it was for, once he went out, the ref had the obligation to stop the fight. Nobody wanted Fedor to win that fight more than me, and I was ready to start a riot when it happened. It wasn't a bad stoppage at all.
