the end with his bullet points summary is all about you need.

He goes in minor detail of how each sugar gets metabolized in the liver in the video. Very interesting.

Fructose is only a problem when either in excess, or in processed form. Natural fructose is fine.

Huh? Fructose is fructose.

Yes Natural fructose contained in fruit is much better for you than say a Sports Drink, but there is no difference between fructose if you extracted them from each.

The difference is how much is present when it is absorbed, and where it is absorbed. Fructose in fruits are not immediately available for absorption. When fructose makes it to the intestines, it becomes food for the bacteria that helps us digest food better. It doesn't make it to the liver.

That's why you avoid processed fructose and high fructose corn syrup that isn't mixed in fiber, etc. Even sucrose has to go through a digestive process before it's fructose is released for absorption. Unbound fructose like in soda drinks, and most processed foods, are to readily absorbed.

We don't have the same obesity issues when sucrose as king before HFCS came along.

Agreed, WC.

I might have to stay away from juices now. No fiber in those. Just actual fruit now, water, coffee in the morning :toast

I like honey.
So do I, and maple Syrup has it too. I think the fructose is bound up somehow, and not readily available for absorption. I hope I'm right, because I love them both. I'm pretty sure the fructose in honey is safe. After all, it takes an average 9 months to make mead.

Yep.

The metabolic process matters. Different sugars and what they are with are treated differently.

I read someplace that fructose if mixed with (I think) flavanoids, are kept from being digested readily as well.

Does honey have flavanoids?

I eat honey instead of sugar because I like the taste tbh. I didn't realize there was a significant difference in the way it can impact your health.

That is a point the guy makes. Natural fructose is self limiting, how many oranges can a person eat in one sitting.
