I've had a Note for the last few months. Not once have I scared the timid or small children by pulling it out and putting to my head for a phone call. Go figure. The II is slightly narrower than the I and just a smidge taller. I don't think there will be any issues with it.
It fits in my pocket just fine. I also have a belt clip for it but I never use it.
The pen functionality is the seller for me. I use it constantly instead of pecking at the keyboard. After a bit of use, the handwriting recognition is pretty good.
lol @ being scared of big phones.

Just tried mine. One handed works without a hitch. the screen is large enough to hit the keys right. Now maybe a child couldn't use it one handed.
I like the screen. It's 800 x 480 and plays Netflix real nice.

I've got normal sized hands. Not much of a problem. There's a setting that will shift keys to the left or right side of the screen to help. I've never tried it tho. It is a stretch to hit the opposite side of the phone tho. I hold it in my left hand most times...the stretch to my browser (bottom right) is not easy. So yeah, there are times I'll use both of my mitts.

Optical zoom, night shooting. You're right in that I use my SII as my primary camera, but there ar the times where I wish I had a real camera to capture images that were father away or at night (e.g. when I was taking a pic of Statue of Liberty @ night on the Staten Island Ferry).

Samsung says save the date for ‘The Next Big Thing’ on October 24, expect more Galaxy Note 2

Samsung has just sent out an email asking us to save the date for an October 24th event to be held in New York City. A picture of a stylus along with the familiar “Next Big Thing” tagline leaves us with little doubt as to what we can expect. The event looks to be the formal introduction of the US range of Samsung Galaxy Note 2 handsets for Verizon, AT&T, T-Mobile, Sprint, and a few regional providers.
While there isn’t much more to learn about the phone, we sure can’t pass up a chance to take a look at the Note 2 up close and drill Samsung on all the details. We’ll be covering the event live, so mark the date on your calendars and stay tuned

Of course if you had major work to do, you'd be better suited in a larger tablet, or a desktop. But for instances wherein you need multi-tasking on a smaller scale, this is a very excellent option.

they're having a live q&a on verge, dude has this to say about multi window:
Vlad Savov's reply:
Can’t put together a video right now, but I just gave it a whirl and it works well. The two halves do feel a bit cramped since they’re pretty much square windows. It also only works with a limited set of apps — Gmail, Maps, Facebook, Twitter, S Note, and a number of others — excluding things like the dialer or Instagram.
Not sure how useful a feature this is. Would require more extensive testing.

No LTE on T-Mobile Note 2, ware:
http://www.theverge.com/2012/10/25/3554328/t-mobile-galaxy-note-ii-lte-support
Samsung's Galaxy Note II has been announced for multiple US carriers, but T-Mobile's version of the device contains an interesting surprise: hardware support for LTE. As noted by AnandTech, T-Mobile's variant is essentially the same hardware as AT&T's, including support for LTE. Of course, T-Mobile doesn't yet have an LTE network launched for the NoteII to run on, but it does plan to have it by the end of 2013. The big question, then, is whether the Note II will support it — T-Mobile's answer is yes, but with caveats:
The Galaxy Note II features a Qualcomm 9215M chipset which provides the hardware capability to support both HSPA+42 and LTE. T-Mobile plans to reach more than 200 million Americans with LTE by the end of 2013. The Galaxy Note II will not automatically access T-Mobile’s LTE network. We will share more information on how and when the Galaxy Note II will support T-Mobile’s upcoming LTE network when the network is available.

Weekend Special: Samsung ”worried” about their build quality, Galaxy Note III to have a new design (http://www.sammobile.com/2013/04/13/weekend-special-samsung-worried-about-their-build-quality-galaxy-note-iii-to-have-a-new-design/)
Our insiders have just sent us some information regarding the Galaxy Note III and its design. It looks like Samsung saw the success of the HTC One and is a bit ”worried” about the design and build quality of their mobile devices. The HTC One is fully made from aluminium, something all Samsung fans would love to see. With the introduction of the Galaxy S4 people started to blame Samsung for using plastic again instead of aluminium / metal. Samsung isn’t worried about the software as according to Samsung their software is better than the one on HTC devices. The simple Nature UX interface by Samsung is easy to use and, thanks to the new smart functions, Samsung’s new interface makes the Galaxy S4 even more smarter.
According to SamMobile’s famous insider, Samsung is planning to switch build quality for the next flagship device. He pointed out that the Galaxy Note III will not use the design guidelines of the Galaxy S4. Samsung expects to sell many Galaxy Note III devices. The Galaxy Note III is rumoured to have a 6.0” FHD AMOLED display, Exynos 5 Octa CPU with LTE, 13 megapixel and the latest version of Android, which could be Android 5.0. The Galaxy Note III will have even more software features than the Galaxy S4. He couldn’t point out the material choice for the Galaxy Note III. He said that Galaxy S4′s metal design was very popular internally but Samsung couldn’t make mass-produce it right on time, so it was declined.
Let’s hope this is true! We would love to see a better build, like Samsung’s Wave series, on their Galaxy series.
NICE!!! Get 'er done, Samsung! I'm excited to see their plans for the Galaxy Note III unfold.
