View Full Version : Cowboys@Giants Week 1 Game Thread

The Giants will be without corner Prince Amukamara, DT Marvin Austin, and OT James Brewer while the Cowboys will be without Jay Ratliff and probably Jason Witten. The following for the Giants are questionable:

OT Will Beatty (http://espn.go.com/nfl/player/_/id/12610/will-beatty) (back)
LB Michael Boley (hamstring)
CB Jayron Hosley (http://espn.go.com/nfl/player/_/id/14983/jayron-hosley) (toe)
LB Mathias Kiwanuka (groin)
WR Hakeem Nicks (foot)
RB Da'Rel Scott (http://espn.go.com/nfl/player/_/id/14087/da%27rel-scott) (knee)
DE Adrian Tracy (http://espn.go.com/nfl/player/_/id/13475/adrian-tracy) (hamstring)

Despite all of these injuries, the Giants have a deep roster and will keep on rolling. I expect Elite Manning to have a monster game. The Giants pass rush will do what they do best...get to the QB early and often. The defending champs win this game in a route 34-13.

Hosley has been a pleasant surprise, so hopefully he suits up. Nicks and Kiwanuka will play for sure. Despite all the numerous advantages NYG has, something tells me the Cowboys will play way above their heads, only to lose in heartrending fashion--most likely aided by a Romo mistake

Those days are over for the Cowboys tbh. The reason that happened is because they had enough talent to compete but were completely undisciplined. Now they don't have the talent.

It's a just a swing of the pendulum imo...they're improved and more talented on defense than in past years. Ratliff, Ware, Lee, Mo, and Carr are a great nucleus on D, imo.

On offense, they lost Robinson, Bennett (both good depth), Austin is perpeually banged up, Witten is injured, and Bryant can't stay out of trouble. Their o-line--like you said--is a joke. They've improved on one side of the ball, only to drop off on the other.

They'll still compete and lose games in comic fashion

While that is very true, it's still something positive...but in the big scheme of things, no fucking way is that gonna win you the chip alone.

The Giants will probably win tomorrow, I expect a minimum of 8 sacks on Romo.

IFFFFFFFFFFFFF the Cowboys can put some points on the board, it'll make for an interesting game.

The Giants have owned the Cowboys at home for awhile now. 5-1 last six vs the spread, 6 -2 at home vs the speard the last 8 or a 11-3 trend favoring the Giants. There is no logical reason to back the Cowboys in this "spot". So I won't. Giants win it!

Why does everyone keep talking about Bennett like he did shit here? Always had huge drops/played like a lazy sack and John Phillips proved to be way more serviceable. If he can return to the form he was in before he got hurt last year I don't really think losing Bennett is a big deal.

Probably because the kid has a ton of god-given ability and the coaching couldn't get it out of him. He's one of the better blocking TE's in the game, and has playmaking ability too. He obviously shoulders a ton of the blame for his lack of production in Dallas, but coaching played a big part in it too. If he blows up in New York it's gonna be another dubious distinction for Big D.

Yeah, I get that...but if he reaches his potential with NYG then the Cowboys coaches need to shoulder some of the blame. The "He just needed a change of scenery!" bs is a fucking cop-out. It's not Eli's job to snap out of it...Cruz and Bennett dropping passes need to snap out of it. If the G-men lose, they will no do doubt look back on trying to inexplicably pound the ball on the goal-line with a soft RB. The play-calling has been atrocious.

Credit to Dallas though, Romo made a great play on that TD, and the Dallas D has been great

Cowboys have to be thrilled with where they are at. There defense looks fantastic and the offense was the first to get into a rhythm. Wonder if Eli can snap out of it and start moving the ball - credit to Dallas's defense though.

Ryan was finally given some competent players to work with, especially at CB. CB's that can actually compete in single coverage, will open up a lot of defensive schemes that weren't available with Newman and a broken Mike Jenkins.

Can anyone fill me in as to why Smith and Free switched positions this season, I'm assuming there was a specific reason behind it....

They think Smith is smarter and more talented, even in his second year. Smith moved to LT because it's a more important position when you have a right-handed QB. You want your best tackle protecting the QB's blind-side. Free is a good player, and he's solid back there, but Smith is better and the coaching staff think he's the future of the O-line.

Get the ball in his hands closer to the line of scrimmage and let him run with the ball. That's one of the few things Wade did well. If the hammy thing is chronic, then he's effed and it doesn't really matter what they do with him. Otherwise, keep his YAC-gettin, hard-to-tackle ass in the slot and make him earn his living there.

They were banged up. A couple of D linemen were out. The guys in the booth mentioned that guys who normally played 25-30 snaps were going to have to go 50+. Their DBs were thin, too. I think they were using their #5 corner for a big chunk of the second half.

I'd start your backup defense for a week or two, and follow the G-men to find out when they are healthy.

The Giants will be without corner Prince Amukamara, DT Marvin Austin, and OT James Brewer while the Cowboys will be without Jay Ratliff and probably Jason Witten. The following for the Giants are questionable:

OT Will Beatty (http://espn.go.com/nfl/player/_/id/12610/will-beatty) (back)
LB Michael Boley (hamstring)
CB Jayron Hosley (http://espn.go.com/nfl/player/_/id/14983/jayron-hosley) (toe)

DE Adrian Tracy (http://espn.go.com/nfl/player/_/id/13475/adrian-tracy) (hamstring)

Despite all of these injuries, the Giants have a deep roster and will keep on rolling. I expect Elite Manning to have a monster game. The Giants pass rush will do what they do best...get to the QB early and often. The defending champs win this game in a route 34-13.
