Since Bill Clinton mentioned this as a reason not to vote for Romney in his speech, I'm curious as to why democrats opppose this idea. What's wrong with block grants for medicaid?

Just like the housing settlement, federal funds to the Repug states were not given to house owners, but used for Repug projects.

Repugs will also abuse medicaid block grants for non-medicaid spending, like filling budget holes created by subsidies and tax breaks for corps and 1%.
