By definition, the 1% are ALWAYS winning.

Unless in some alternate reality:

Today, the latest income figures show that, in a change from past experience, and a break from logic, the top 1% of earners actually earned less than the bottom 99%.

Haven't clicked on the link, btw; just being a smartass.

The null assumption I would have until proven otherwise is that the trends display the effects of tax law changes moreso than an increasing inequality.

How has non-income compensation for the bottom 90% changed over the past 30 years, for example with health insurance?

How might higher marginal rates impact the way high earners are compensated?

How might changes in tax law that moved the top marginal rate below the corporate rate have affected how certain businesses choose to report income?

What changes might creation or elimination of tax shelters have?

Theres a shit ton of stupid in this post. Pointing out the disparate concentration of wealth is not the same as jealousy or even an arguement for forced wealth redistribution. You can say its bad economic policy to allow for wealth to be concentrated in a small class of individuals without calling for a seizure of that wealth, much less being jealous of billionaires.

No mention of the Fed's ceaseless money-printing causing inflation that serves as a hidden tax on the lower and middle class = automatic failure...

they win by throwing money at things.

Primarily at legislators, regulators, and at campaigns to get their henchmen elected.
