Drugs, sports and music....wow!!!!!!!!

Look at all the legendary bands we saw make their mark in that decade. The AFL came into existence in that decade as did the Dallas Cowboys. TV had all those westerns. Cassius Clay! We saw the first Superbowl, the first sub10.00, the first sub20.00, the first 29 foot long jump. Blacks playing football at Southern schools. So many things changed in that decade. So different than the 50's. Have we ever seen a more dramatic difference from one decade to the next? So many firsts. Who had ever heard of, Orange Wedge, Purple Wafer, Sunshine, Microdot, Green Barrell, prior to the 60's?

We all heard about this so there we were waiting.

The next day at school all the girls.."isn't Paul cute?" Inside a week we all had Beatle boots.

Yep, a moon trip how unlike anything else. So many things we saw for the first time. The music was so different than what we'd been listening to. The huge difference was in the rebellious atitude towards authority. Everyone was ..fuck that...now it's going to be.............

im pretty sure those guys who had stepped on the moon each had a basic college degree at least tbh, that was an exciting moment really when neil made his first step on the surface of moon but it had hardly anything to do with the lives of guys who don't have college degrees and probably don't even know the very basic principles of how a rocket works imho

I'd like to point out that Avante joined the Navy...While real Alpha motherfuckers like me joined the Army and put our ASS on the line.

How did it feel to float around while the real men did the fighting, Avante?

You know what's really fun is trying to listen to The Beatles on a setup where one of the speakers is broken. Good stuff.

And for the record, while I love me some Beatles (even have some of their lyrics tatted on my right shoulder)... all of them were terrible singers. But as a whole you don't need to be a broadway singer to do well in Rock & Roll, that has always been about the music and/or the content of the lyrics. Just saying a bunch of tone deaf limeys would probably wield more power than the President of the United States if they were all still alive today. Digest that for a second.

I think Paul was a pretty good singer. John had a unique voice that fit in perfectly for his songs, but I wouldn't call him great. George and Ringo couldn't sing though.

Lennon & McCartney are definitely the musical world's combination of glass half empty vs glass half full. It worked out really good for them, although a lot of Beatles songs were written by only one of them but had to have both names credited because of the contract.
