After not even considering seeing this movie...I may catch it on a matinee. Reviews are very good, saying its kinda like Die Hard meets The Raid: Redemption and that Karl Urban is surprisingly close to the Dredd in the comics.

Yes, you just have to forget Stallone's version even existed. I finally watched it again on YT a couple of days ago, my god is it bad... "I knew you'd say that" "I am the LAAW" "Double Whammy"

This movie will need good word of mouth because to some, Stallone is the only Dredd...

And yes it is getting really good reviews, even top critics are liking it.

I'm seeing it opening weekend.

The Judge Dredd episode of the How Did This Get Made? podcast is fucking hilarious. Actually made me want to go back and re-watch it, but I have so far not given in to that urge.

At first I wasnt so interested but I think I actually wanna check it out now. Growing up as a kid Stallone was the only Dredd to me but I watched it a couple years back and the movie itself wasnt that great....

Seeing this opening day - don't care if it ripped off the raid. :tu

Quit talking shit about the Stallone version too. Any thing with Stallone (Dredd, Demolition Man) or JCVD (Bloodsport) must never be talked down upon.

Dredd was in production before The Raid

I love Demolition Man and Bloodsport, but Dredd is just plain BAD

Scheer and Mantzoukas are great, very funny on League too. Mantzoukas was also on You Made it Weird, Pete Holmes' podcast

Really? That's wild - how can one be in production before the other and one be completely filmed and released about a year in advance with the samn damn premise?

Well release date never really means anything, look at Cabin in the Woods, that movie has been completed since like 2009 or so, way before Hemsworth filmed Thor yet it came out after.

Dredd: filming began on 12 November 2010

The Raid: Filming began in March 2011

Watched Stallone's Dredd not long ago...yeah its corny when you're all grown up. Was one of my favorite movies when I was a kid.

Didn't think much of this Dredd movie from the trailers but the reviews are great so far. Probably will be a blu-ray buy for me in the near future.

Saw it - thought it was decent. Nothing special IMO, but solid enough if you like action movies. Didn't think the 3D was as good as advertised, so I would say catch the 2D version and you will still like it the same as you would if you caught it in 3D.

Went to the 2D showing today. Not an instant classic or anything like that but it was better than the first and overall a good, dark action flick. Easily worth the matinee money if you have a couple hours to burn.
