Lakers would have likely been up by 8-10 points had Dwight been playing in place of Bynum so that 3 would not have made a difference.

DH ain't nearly efficient as bynum at the offensive end, albeit a slight upgrade defensively. ur gonna miss bynum's scoring as well as his significance in p'n'r, while DH might be a better defender, he doesn't help much to improve your defense on the 3pt line, say you'd still get facefucked by a gang of gunners like them mavs

numbers don't play the game, the player does and although D12 is a brilliant player himself, it remains a big question whether he can fit in to the lakers system.

nash, as good a playmaker as he is, has never proven himself on any team that doesn't play run and gun or a similar style, and the lakers just don't seem like a good team for him either. maybe he can adapt to the lakers system and do some great thing like jason kidd did for them mavs, but only time will tell.

kobe is one yr older too and he'll continue to jack up them shots more likely than not, so it'll only leave very limited number of shots for the rest of the team, which has to be shared among DH, Nash, Pau and maybe Metta World Peace :lol

That's exactly why the Lakers made big moves this off season tbh. After 2 years of 2nd round exits, the Lakers FO said: "What we got right now is not working. Let's try something new, it's time to reload."

The spurs organization seems way too comfortable with the idea of falling into obscurity tbh.

That's why the Lakers are the Lakers and the spurs are the spurs. The Lakers reloaded with big moves and are aiming for a championship now. On the other hand, the spurs are auditioning scrubs that will only get them another best regular season record.

If by "reload" you mean swapping Drew with Dwight and acquiring 47-year-old "I play for fun" Nash, then okay...

Everybody knows where the deficiencies are on that team, and neither move addresses them, tbh...

The Spurs don't matter. Barring injuries, the West is OKC's to lose, IMO.

Yes, because unlike Ibaka, Dwight is a scrub and a midget with Bonner-like athleticism :lol

Elnono...I love your sadism and passion...

Here is how I see it...it's a very simple concept...

Kobe - 2nd in Points scored last year (because he sat out final game)

Dwight - 1st in rebounds and 3rd in blocks last year and that's after sitting half the season. He was so dominant that he sat basically half a season and was still 1st and 3rd that is sick man...give him his props please...

Nash - 2nd in assists in the league last yr.

Jamison - Averaged 17ppg last year...that's more than Ray Allen and Rashard Lewis combined

I won't even mention MWP, Gasol, Hill, and the 3 pt specialist we scored from Philly...

We have power, speed, agility, strength, veteran leadership, hunger, drive, determination, passion....I'm scared and if I'm scared that means you should be scared of the Lakers as well Elnono....

lol spurfan, offensively Nash is light years ahead of any point guard the Lakers had in a really long time and unlike Drew, Dwight shows up every game and plays with effort on both O and D. Bynum going ghost in certain playoff games, didn't help the Lakers chances.

Let's agree to disagree i guess. Every Lakerfan should be glad the Lakers FO is at least trying, if it's going to work or not, only time will tell.

Nash was done about two seasons ago, tbh... this isn't necessarily news. Obviously, when you're trotting out Steve Blake, you should consider it an "upgrade", but then again Goudelock was probably an upgrade too and he was watching games from the bench (which brings up another unaddressed problem).

As I say every year, I'm not writing off the Lakeshow this early, but you should get an idea of how far they'll go by the All Star break. Right now on paper, they're probably the 2nd or 3rd most talented team in the West if firing on all cylinders.

The signing of Nash and Jamison, coupled with Kirby and Artest, puts the Lakeshow firmly in the AARP category the Spurs have been on for a while now. Nobody is scared of the Lakeshow, tbh... You know Mike Brown won't demand anything from Kirby, so it's going to be solely up to him to ditch the record-chasing and become a team player to make things work. Kirby embracing that role at this stage is suspect as hell, and before you tell me I'm "hating", we all saw the last couple of seasons, so the surprise would actually be if he realizes his limitations...

I know it hurts Elnono that Kobe started in 96 and is still the Don of the league while Duncan is literally just a shell of his former self.

Look at it...If Kobe was done he would not have lead the league in scoring last year...

Duncan's last title was in 2007 right...that's like 5-6 yrs ago...so I can see how you might be a little jaded. I get it..I'd be mad as well....Kobe last one in 2010...pretty much lead the league in scoring last year and was was the 2011 ASG MVP...and was the Star and Main attraction this year...trust me niggas wouldn't be breaking his nose if he was washed up...

ell Homo here's some good and interesting reading:

According to Ryan Feldman and Rachel Eldridge, from ESPN Stats & Info, (http://espn.go.com/blog/truehoop/post/_/id/47333/why-kobe-and-nash-will-make-a-great-duo) Nash passed the ball to spot-up shooters 389 times on pick-and-roll plays last season, the most such passes in the league. According to Hoopdata (http://hoopdata.com/passingstats.aspx), he had the most assists for field goals at the rim as well, averaging 4.7 per game.

Nash can set up shooters at the perimeter, or down low. Last year, as the roll man on the pick-and-roll, according to data from Synergy (http://mysynergysports.com/), Howard averaged a ridiculous 1.36 points per play, boasting a field-goal percentage of 74 percent.

The Lakers not only now have the league's best low-post passer, but also have the league's best low-post scorer. If that doesn't give teams enough to worry about, Nash was also the passer to the perimeter on pick-and-rolls.

So the Lakers don’t just have the ability to score from anywhere—they also have a way to get their scorers the ball from anywhere. Essentially, the Lakers will always be able to set up a mismatch. There simply is no starting five in the NBA that can match up with the Lakers man to man.

But wait! There's more!

Koolaid_Man
09-23-2012, 07:35 PM
It is not merely the sum of the parts here that is so frightening—it's the synergy of it all. Set this in cement: Kobe Bryant will have the most efficient season of his entire career. Per the previously mentioned Feldman and Eldridge article (http://espn.go.com/blog/truehoop/post/_/id/47333/why-kobe-and-nash-will-make-a-great-duo), "When Kobe was left open, he shot 51.3 percent, which ranked 11th of the 113 players with at least 75 unguarded catch-and-shoot jumpers last season."

Kobe Bryant's secret is that he's an absolute beast off the ball, an often overlooked aspect of his game. Coming off screens he shot 46.2 percent. On handoffs he shot 50 percent. On cut plays he shot 54.2 percent.

With Steve Nash taking over the primary ball-handling duties, expect Bryant to do a lot more without the ball, which will make him far more efficient. Imagine Pau Gasol setting a pick for Nash with Howard in the post and Bryant on the weak-side. How in the bleepity-bleep do you defend that?

But Wait There's More

Koolaid_Man
09-23-2012, 07:38 PM
From the 16-to-22 foot range, Bryant was third in the league (http://bkref.com/tiny/R0LvW) and had a .415 field goal percentage, which was well over the league average.

Their new additions mean that the Lakers will be potent from every area of the court, which in turn means that double-teaming will be dangerous since it will force opponents to leave another area of the court either unguarded or under-guarded.

Also, let's not forget Nash's own scoring ability, which takes a backseat to his passing ability. Basketball-Reference.com's Play Index (http://www.basketball-reference.com/play-index/psl_finder.cgi?request=1&match=combined&type=totals&per_minute_base=36&lg_id=NBA&is_playoffs=N&year_min=&year_max=&franch_id=&season_start=1&season_end=-1&age_min=0&age_max=99&height_min=0&height_max=99&birth_country_is=Y&birth_country=&is_active=&is_hof=&is_as=&as_comp=gt&as_val=0&pos_is_g=Y&pos_is_gf=Y&pos_is_f=Y&pos_is_fg=Y&pos_is_fc=Y&pos_is_c=Y&pos_is_cf=Y&qual=&c1stat=fg3&c1comp=gt&c1val=1000&c2stat=&c2comp=gt&c2val=&c3stat=&c3comp=gt&c3val=&c4stat=&c4comp=gt&c4val=&c5stat=&c5comp=gt&c6mult=1.0&c6stat=&order_by=ts_pct) reveals that he has the third best shooting percentage in NBA history with at least 1,000 three-point shots made. It's not hyperbole to say Nash is one of the greatest shooters in league history.

But his best skill is passing, not shooting.

But Wait There's More

Koolaid_Man
09-23-2012, 07:39 PM
The Lakers are also adding Steve Nash and Antawn Jamison, who combined to make nearly 50 percent as many three-point shots as the entire Lakers roster did last season, and both players shot above the league average.

The range from three-to-nine feet was already a strength for the Lakers, in large part because of Pau Gasol, who had the 10th most makes (http://www.basketball-reference.com/play-index/plus/shot_finder.cgi?request=1&player_id=&match=single&year_id=2012&is_playoffs=N&team_id=&opp_id=&game_num_min=0&game_num_max=99&game_month=&game_location=&game_result=&shot_pts=&is_make=&shot_type=&shot_distance_min=3&shot_distance_max=9&q1=Y&q2=Y&q3=Y&q4=Y&q5=Y&time_remain_minutes=12&time_remain_seconds=0&time_remain_comp=le&margin_min=&margin_max=&c1stat=&c1comp=ge&c1val=&c2stat=&c2comp=ge&c2val=&c3stat=&c3comp=ge&c3val=&order_by=fg) in the NBA from the range.

The range from 10-to-15 feet is covered by Kobe Bryant, who had the third most (http://www.basketball-reference.com/play-index/plus/shot_finder.cgi?request=1&player_id=&match=single&year_id=2012&is_playoffs=N&team_id=&opp_id=&game_num_min=0&game_num_max=99&game_month=&game_location=&game_result=&shot_pts=&is_make=&shot_type=&shot_distance_min=10&shot_distance_max=15&q1=Y&q2=Y&q3=Y&q4=Y&q5=Y&time_remain_minutes=12&time_remain_seconds=0&time_remain_comp=le&margin_min=&margin_max=&c1stat=&c1comp=ge&c1val=&c2stat=&c2comp=ge&c2val=&c3stat=&c3comp=ge&c3val=&order_by=fg) makes from that range. While it may seem that his .421 shooting percentage from that range is low, keep in mind that the league average was .428.

Tbh, his PPG, RPG, and scoring % don't mean shit since it was a different team surrounded by different players.

Howard's RPG will go down due to playing with actual bigs (happens all the time when bigs switch teams). Lakers' team DRB% should go up though, since he's a more consistent rebounder than Bynum.

His PPG will go down due to playing with players who take a lot of shots (Kobe , and Gasol being the better post scorer. not to mention Jamison and Nash who will be taking more shots than Sessions and whatever shitface LA was calling their sixth man last year). Howard also played in the midget east with barely any bigs in it. The west has more hard, pipe hittin niggas in their frontcourts. Won't be as easy to score.

Blocks should be the same since they have nothing to do with touches. Maybe even go up, but we'll see how his injury effects him.

Doubles doubles will go down due to getting less boards.

FG% may go up though tbh. But accompanied by much lower PPG. Who knows, depends on his health and if he decides to push too much.

Stats won't be the same. But feel free to draft him to your fantasy team and pass up on LBJ and those other studs and take a guaranteed season loss when he shits out closer to Carlos Boozer stats + more blocks.

Jamison shot 40% from the field and 34% from three. Don't mention him again as anything more than a bench warmer.

a significant upgrade at bench tbh, we were one of the worst benches last year, any upgrade there is a def plus, LA is a deep team now, we didnt have a single person of the bench that could create for himself.

2008 Finals Appearance
2008 Gold Medal
2009 NBA title
2010 NBA title
2011 - Swept
2012 - 2nd round loss

only after 3 straight finals appearances and back to back titles...plus a gold medal in 2008...we we're tired in 2011 so it was no big deal...

2012 we didn't have time to jell after a new coach plus it was a lock-season we didn't want to win no fucking title on a lock season...fuck that shit man...we better than that...we gave that shit away on purpose man...Kobe is more honorable than to accept a lock out title...shame on Lebron :toast

now what is the Mav's excuse for going 1 and done?

The pinnacle of :lmao here is that a Spurs fan disguised as a Lakers fan who's already been outed and who is pinked and cannot start new threads is continuing to "pound his hard rock dick in our collective asses".

Learn to type in complete sentences. I fify....

Listen I've earned being pink that is no small feat. For as much as Kori was in love with me it took all she had to pink me. In fact it was only done at the behest of her jealous husband. He was hurt she took a liking to me and he whined and whined about it. So she had to do something to soothe his conscience.

I'm cool with it. Now if we had not landed Dwight, Nash, Jamison, Meeks, kept Pau and Artest then I'd be sore...but as it stands there's nothing better than planting my size 14 inch shoe in your asses.

what is Dwight gonna do? well I can't really say at this time Elnono...I'm just extremely happy that we got him...I'm happy that I have Dwight Howard as my center...it could be much worse...I mean...I could have Dejaun Blair as my center and that would cause me to be depressed in all honesty...
You do, ES, in all honesty.
