It was cool in a sense that you got see the spurs close up and acting silly, but the audio at the dome sucked major balls... you couldn't hear a fucking thing. it wasn't because people were cheering too loud, but because whoever did the audio had no idea wtf he was doing...

and the balloons? wtf? they missed the fucking stage!!! re-fucking-diculous!

parade was sweet though...

anyone else think the same thing?

Why the fuck do people always fucking complain over stupid shit.

Damn.

Clandestino
06-25-2005, 11:53 PM
what is stupid about not being able to hear at the alamodome? what is stupid about complainig about the dumbasses who rigged the balloons to fall nowhere near the stage?

what is stupid is stealing pics and posting them as your own on an nsync forum!

Horry For 3!

Just be happy your ass is alive and you're at the fucking Dome.

Quit bitching about audio problems and balloons not falling near the stage.

There's more important things in life to get worked up over about.

That shit ain't one of them.

They didn't want the ballons on the players they wanted them for the crowd. Yea the audio sucked but the players asked for chants... Sorry you didn't have a good time I watched it at home after the river parade.

yeah, a friend told us that too... the tv was great.. at the dome it sucked... you couldn't hear anything...

Isn't the Alamodome getting an upgraded soundsystem and TV screens?

That place really is fucked up since the Spurs left.

I went to the Alamo Bowl last year and the restrooms on one end hadn't been cleaned in weeks.

There was shit stored everywhere in the hallways.

The screens barely worked.

We stayed home to watch it on TV because in 03 we couldn't hear shit, so we wanted to check it out.

yeah, a friend told us that too... the tv was great.. at the dome it sucked... you couldn't hear anything...

That's weird, because the crowd responded timely to everything a Spur said.

Again, quit the useless bitching, it's complete nonsense.

The A-Dome has ALWAYS had a shitty sound system. Personally, I was there to be there, not for the sound.

I don't know about suck, but my sis and I did agree that the one in 2003 was a lot better. My reasoning was that maybe it was short time to plan. She argued thats why you always plan ahead and she thought it did kinda stink. And the audio was kinda bad. The mic was going in and out and it was hard to hear what was being said. But its fine, I was just glad to be there and be a part of that too.

Audio did suck at the Dome. Sound was much better in 03. Maybe it was the seats. I was upper lvl this year (cause i went to the parade) but lower lvl in 03.

Hadnt been to the dome since 03. Man that place sucks now. They would have to do some SERIOUS renovations for an NFL team

They are.

5 million dollars worth of renovations, including new LCD video screens.

Actually, the audio at the dome was ok as long as you were in front of the stage were the speakers were pointed. However, I'd imagine the rest of the dome got fucked. We had pretty great seats though, so it was awesome.

That place was loud as all hell to begin with though, that was awesome.

I like the Alamo Dome. It was packed and loud when we use to come to town and wrestle there. I loved the atmosphere.

As said earlier, the balloons were rigged to fall on the people(fans). I saw the dome on tv, and I thought it was pretty good.

I noticed at the begining that they exchanged two wireless mics because they were not working properly. They ended using an "old fashioned" wired mic - so I guess they did have problems with the PA. The sound on the TV (webcast) was ok though.

the skinny white balloons were, but not at the end... the silver and black ones and confetti should've fallen on the stage...

It was awesome to just be there! Just imagine all the fans from elsewhere and overseas. I'll bet they would have taken the bad sound just to be there! Spurs Rock!!!!!! Horry has really embraced this city and displays his desire to exercise his option next year! Damn, this is sweet! :elephant

Being there and feeling the vibe was cool and all but your right i couldn't understand a word they said

They do need to spend the money to get the celebration professionally produced. ...or at the very least do a competant sound check. Watched on FoxSW in Austin and the audio sounded like it was piped through a 15 year old burger king drive-thru speaker.

I could hear it fine at the Dome. Where were you sitting?

spurster
06-26-2005, 05:25 PM
Is this a vent thread?

Why does everyone have to shout into the mike? Really, one hour of everyone shouting at you gets old.

Who was the fat nitwit at the beginning? Everyone else was easier to understand than he was.

Brent should have been the MC.

TP's rap made up for all of the above.

I saw it on TV BTW.

The only thing wrong with last night was Crazy Lou...someone should have yanked him off the stage and put him into the basement of the Alamodome

I agree. He was horrible.

And nearly the whole arena booing the mayor was pretty horrible too.

From where we were sitting (section 144) the sound was good though. I'm not sure where the people who couldn't hear were sitting.

We had pretty awesome seats for the event. The only bad part was when they had those city leaders and other unknown people speak at the beginning.

It was fun to watch and it was what it's supposed to be -- a celebration of a job well done. I can understand how some fans can be disappointed because nothing could ever top that AJ speech in '99.

If Barry does the introducing next time, it will be classic.

Kori Ellis
06-26-2005, 05:36 PM
I think Barry didn't do it this year because he's new. Bowen is pretty much the "voice" of the Spurs team right now. He's not a jokester like Barry, but I see why they picked him to do it.

I thank the fans for going there and making the rally, and the River Parade, wonderful celebrations. A chance for the fans and players to express their mutual appreciation.

I was really hoping somebody on the Spurs side would credit the SBC crowd specifically for "6th Man Award for Game7", rather than just general "ya'll are great".

Too bad so many people weren't able hear. Being effectively deaf to many great words is very frustrating. It seems like the politicians and taxpayers don't want to maintain the AlamoDome to acceptable standards, or, maybe just the Championship Rally was done on the cheap.

The "people" part was well done exceptionally well, but I was expecting some dramatic, abundant special effects.

Pop did. And so did one of the other players.

Great! See, even listening/watching on WOAI, I couldn't distinguish any "6th Man" talk. I did hear several talking about the Game7 post-warmup, pre-game noise much appreciatd by the Spurs

Oh, well, it was a superb event.

Yeah, the crowd booing the new mayor was pretty incomfortable. But I have to say that's the first time I've ever heard him speak. Was that a cartoon voice or his real voice?

"The sound" has always sucked at the Alamodome. That is one reason they quit having concerts there (it was the primary reason George Straight stopped having his annual show there). The only two musical acts I have ever seen there that the sound was decent were Garth Brooks and Elton John; both have the money for the sound equipment to carry shows in that kind of building. I have never seen any other event there where the sound was good.

The balloons were not supposed to "hit the stage". The baloons were for the fans, not the Spurs. Didn't you see everyone in the audience waving them wildly?

Dex

the baloons missing the stage was pretty sad though

Yeah, it looked like somebody forgot about the AC or something.

At least the draft didn't knock Manu off the stage. :lol

They aren't talking about those long balloons. They are talking about the round balloons at the very end. They were supposed to hit the stage, but the AC blew them way to the right.

I think the 64,000 people at the dome was more than the people who actualy showed up to vote! :lol

I don't see how people can bitch about a FREE event. I stayed home and watched it, and it seemed great. The crowd was into it, Barry was hilarious "All the girls who gave Beno a hickey cheer right now!"

Manu promising another Championship before he leaves.

Good stuff.

I loved the celebration. I drove 4 hours just to go to that celebration. I waited 4 hours outside the Alamodome in the hot sun and I was sweating. But once I was in there it was all worth it. It was awesome when Tim Duncan grabbed the mic and talked. Duncan has been my favorite player since he was in college as his sophmore year. I have yet to meet him but that is one of my goals.
