At 36 years old, with 15 NBA seasons under his belt, it stands to reason that Tim Duncan’s game has changed over the years. Indeed, he was never overly athletic even in his prime. So now that he’s pushing 40, he’s come to rely on his outside jumper more and more.

How much? Hoopspeak.com dug up the interesting nugget that, for the first time in his career, he took more shots in the 16-23 foot range than he did at the rim, 4.2 attempts to 4.0. (Pounding the Rock explored the phenomenon in great depth several weeks ago.)

It seems better for his body too. No banging anymore.

Nice, and I'll use this thread as an excuse to post some of Duncan's jumpers here:

And defensively I'll continue being a fanboy, via Hollinger:

"The Spurs gave up 6.2 points per 100 possessions less with him on the court, and regularized adjusted plus-minus shows him (Duncan) to be the league's single most impactful defensive player last season"

At that age the "changing face" of most big men's games looks something like this:

Wow, better shooting percentage from midrange than Kevin Durant? Didn't expect that.

That top of the key jumper was deadly though.

He lost some confidence in his jumper against OKC for some reason.

To be fair the whole team lost confidence in some area.
