Thought I would start a thread about tonight's debate.

I'm hoping the debate is focused big issues like the economy, foreign policy, and energy an not on distracting non-issues, like gay marriage, pot legalization, and abortion.

Jim Lehrer:

Thank you for joining us tonight Mr. President, Governor. I have broken the debate up into some broad themes, which we will explore in more detail with the questions and discussion as the evening unfolds. The themes are: "The 47%", "Hostile Takovers", "The top 1% of the 1%" and, finally, "The planet Kolob".

Governor Romney, you'll be given all the question, the President can chime in whenever he would like.

Romney:

Fuck me.

I wonder what accent the president will use tonight?

a) Ivy league professor
b) Southern minister

Evidently, he has both ready to go at a moment's notice.

I'd love Barry to go after Mitt who became unhinged and crazy when his primary opponents did it to him.

It's a silly product to sell advertizing. A totally useless, distracting charade that won't address the really important problems and questions.

I expect Gecko to lie and distort and sling stupid gotcha zingers, thinking that will get him out of the HUGE ELECTORAL HOLE he deserves to be in.

I'll be watching it and yeah, I know many totally dismiss the debates as nothing but talking points from both candidates but I still believe they can do damage if not handled properly. Obama has more to lose tonight as the opponent always gets a bounce after the 1st debate. So Obama has to be on top of his game tonight. Will be interesting to see how it flows.

Yes, the reason Americans are covered in NDAA imo, is for dissent on American horrible policies, in case Americans are protesting and visiting websites or comments that could be "considered" "terroristic" such as the soldier that was recently arrested for comments on facebook and had to be released because he actually did nothing wrong. Even the plaintiffs on the lawsuit against Obama on NDAA believe this is the case.

Romney definitely won this one tbh. Obama had a lot of trouble maintaining eye contact with Romney first of all, looked like he was scared of dealing with 4 years of shit, as Nono puts it.. Romney did pretty well with the details, cited a lot of sources, didn't stutter nearly as much as the President.

Both are fuckheads but you gotta give Romney credit this time around. Ryan vs Biden should be quite some fun though :lol

Even the plaintiffs on the lawsuit against Obama on NDAA believe this is the case.Wait, they let the soldier go?

Romney needs to focus more on Obama's inability to work across the isle to get anything done. That and the "Which candidate is more like me?" question Americans seem to think is important.

If you're a dumbass with no post high school education who works construction and who's idea of fun is polishing off a 30 rack of Milwaukee's Best every weekend, you shouldn't want a president who's anything like you.

That made me lol

So the consensus is that Romney won? I only watched about 10 minutes but it seemed like a draw to me. Of course, FOX News was thrilled while MSNBC was sad. CNN was just like "it is what it is".

I don't give a fuck if the President makes a good drinking buddy, I've got plenty of friends with whom I can sit down and drink a beer.

I want a president that knows what the hell he's doing in the Oval Office.

Besides, Romney doesn't drink.

Wow....pretty sure you missed the sarcasm, point, and joke.

Oh stop it Dan....don't start acting like just this year you decided to really take into consideration all ideas from both sides of the aisle. The dems could run a coconut and you'd vote for it....nothing wrong with that, just embrace it.

As soon as the GOP runs a candidate that has a realistic immigration, tax, social security, spending, energy, and insurance policy we'll talk...

tbh, looking at Spurstalk, you can tell Romney did good.... both jack and Yoni made an appearance after weeks being MIA. :lol

The only thing we'd talk about is how much you'd still support the democrat.

Romney showed me tonight what he has shown me all along. He will say whatever he thinks he need to say at that moment to get what he wants with no regard for validity, sincerity, or integrity. I guess he thinks people are too stupid to know that he said a bunch of stuff that is counter to what he has been saying all along.

I also am not surprised that my definition of winning does not seem to be in line with that of the political pundits on TV - whichever channel you watch. I did not find Romney aggressive in a good way. I saw him as rude and disrespectful.

You an Obama supporter? Not trying to be a dick here or anything, just that most people always think their guy won it.

There's no way anyone could truthfully say Obama won that debate. They could call it a draw if they overvalued the Obamacare bit, but that's a stretch.

But yeah -- I can't think of anything Romney didn't promise though.

Obama must have lost his script.

Obama had the worst presidential debate performance in my lifetime.

okay settle down bigot or should I call you a Sean Klannity wannabe?

what happened was simple..Romney flat out lied about his previous positions and / or shifted so far from them that he caught Obama off guard with his lies...Romney's plans are so vague and ambiguous till it was easy to pivot from them like working magic in an excel pivot table...thank goodness for the fact checkers...Romney is smiling that fake ass smile now but he won't be after the fact checkers lite a fire cracker in his ass...

and I applaud Obama for working hard not to come across as the angry black guy...but Obama is a competitor..sure the economy was a tough one for him but he has so many weapons that he'll pull out over the next 2 debates..namely:

47%
personal taxes
betting against america with offshore accounts
Bain - outsourcing jobs
Romney investing in China's government
Obstructionist and racist congress
etc etc

Romney promised everything and said everything an "undecided" voter needed to here...who cares if it's the truth? It's about votes, and he definately picked up a good amount tonight.
