View Full Version : Heat: Don't talk to Wade about him becoming a TOSB

Because he ain't having it:

The whispers of Wade declining began during last year's playoffs and have continued with the notion he's "NBA old" at the age of 30.

Rather than say he's a few years away from a rocking chair, Wade will just ignore the outside criticism.

"You know what I've decided," Wade said recently. "I've just decided not to comment on it any more."

....

"Any time someone questions you, it's going to bother you if you have any kind of competitive nature," Wade said. "It fuels you. You want to see what you're made of in a sense. You want to come back and not only answer the bell, but do a little bit more than expected."

....

Wade calls the talk, "just speculation, man."

"I'm not really worried about it, I'm going forward," Wade said. "If anyone asks me anything about that, I'm not answering. I don't want to talk about it. We can talk about all that when I get done playing basketball. Right now, I'm one of the best players in the league, and I come in every year and try to work as hard as I can to try to stay there."

...

"At the end of the day, everyone looks at points," Wade said. "That's what they look at. No one said anything about how my defense has been as good as it's been. No one said anything about how efficient I was last year. I shot 49.7 percent from the field, so that means I hit half the shots I took. People don't look at that. I can't worry myself with that. The only thing I can do is, whatever role I have to play, is play it."

...

"We put this team together knowing that you're going to sacrifice," Wade said. "In a perfect world, if everyone could bring their (old) averages, then we would never have to play a game. That's not the case. When you decide to come together as a team, you sacrifice something. Other teams have done it, and it's a pat on the back for them. When I do it, I've lost a step. It is what it is."

Miami's championship window shrinks as Wade ages. It's funny because I don't recall seeing any LA Times articles like this when Kobe turned 30 - four long years ago. That year he was on his way to 3 straight Finals. Four years later - he's fresh off a 28 ppg season and primed for another few trips back to the Finals with a retooled roster.

the fact is kobe never had any partner of a similar caliber as him playing in the backcourt or at the wing throughout his career, so he can jack up them shots as much as he like. wade's stats dropped alot but it doesn't bother him at all as long as the team is winning. dude's been playing with injuries which might have affected his game more than his age imho

get back to me when the best SG in the league shoots under 45% tbh...

Wade barrels into the lane and misses a shot
Foul is called
He is awarded 2 FTAs

In this scenario, 3 things happen:

1) Missed shot doesn't count against his FG%
2) If he makes 2 FTAs, it boosts his scoring
3) NBA-manufactured "superstar" is born

Give Kobe the same FTAs Wade gets and I'll guarantee you 35 ppg. As you can see, FTAs makes it easy to believe Wade is better than he is. Without FTAs, he ain't shit.

agree, it is flopping even if it's just an "exaggeration of contact" imho. drawing contacts & fouls is not flopping by any means, which's why guys like dirk are never considered floppers though they also score alot at the line. it's only a legit flopping when the contact is already there and you make it look 10x influential as it really is

Yes, it's preseason, but he's not looking good...at all. Clunking 2ptrs, bricking 3ptrs, blown layups, missed dunks. And like I always say, without FTAs, he ain't shit. Look at his body of work against good teams this preseason:

Game 1: DNP
Game 2: 2-9 FGAs, 1-2 FTAs for 5 points
Game 3: 3-7 FGAs, 1-2 FTAs for 7 points
Game 5: 5-13 FGAs, 3-4 FTAs, 13 points

Games 4 and 6 don't count since they played scrub teams. But then again, he's laying a potent stinker tonight so far: 3-9 FGAs (2 FGMs were point blank layups) and game high 6 TOs in 18 minutes. Looks like LeBron and Bosh will have to carry this budding TOSB superstar :lol

Dem old man injuries are piling up:

LOS ANGELES -- Miami Heat NBA-manufactured star Dwyane Wade will be a game-time decision Wednesday night against the Los Angeles Clippers due to a sprained left foot.

Wade skipped the Heat's shootaround and is planning to get an X-ray before the game (ESPN, 10:30 ET). If the X-ray is negative, he is planning to warm up to see how the foot responds before making a decision on playing.

Wade suffered the injury in the third quarter Monday night during the Heat's 113-110 win against the Houston Rockets. He stepped on teammate Chris Bosh's foot and turned his ankle and foot. Wade returned in the fourth quarter but was limited. He received treatment during the day Tuesday, an off day for the team.

"Hopefully there's nothing wrong and I'll just see if I'm able to put the pressure on I need to to play," Wade said. "Personally I think it's a deep bruise. I have to make sure it's nothing more than that because it's on the bone."

Wade already missed a game during the Heat's current six-game road trip, Friday's game in Atlanta, due to a cold. He has been dealing with several nagging injuries including a jammed right thumb he suffered Sunday in Memphis.

"I want to play, it's a prime-time game," Wade said, "but I want to feel good."

Wade is averaging 18.4 points for the Heat, who are 6-2 and 2-1 on the road trip. The Clippers are 5-2 and enter the game riding a three-game win streak.

18.4 ppg puts him in the same statistical category as Kemba Walker, Damian Lillard, JR Smith, Steph Curry, D Will, CP3, Kevin Martin, and Brandon Jennings. Wade is now 3rd Tier Player (http://espn.go.com/nba/statistics/player/_/stat/scoring-per-game/sort/avgPoints/year/2013/seasontype/2) (22nd in scoring) Matter of fact, Kemba averages more ppg than Wade. :rollin :lmao :rollin

With his athleticism going down the toilet due to him being a T:lolSB, predictably, his numbers took a dip this year. Also just as predictable, Miami's PR team already has the media :downspin: shit:

LOS ANGELES – Dwyane Wade rose for a dunk, Eric Bledsoe jumped with him and, for a moment, the Los Angeles Clippers guard looked likely to become the latest in a long line of Wade's victims. But a funny thing happened on Bledsoe's way to infamy: He matched Wade's ascent and snuffed out Wade's slam attempt, tossing back the ball with his right hand.

Dwyane Wade is averaging 16.9 points on 47 percent shooting this season. (AP)
Wade eventually jogged down the floor on his surgically repaired left knee and sore left foot. His right thumb is also jammed, adding to the litany of injuries slowing the Miami Heat's All-Star guard.
Wade scored a season-low six points in the Heat's 107-100 loss to the Los Angeles Clippers on Wednesday night. Clearly limited by the injuries, there's a chance he could sit out Thursday night's game against the Denver Nuggets.

"When you get one thing it ends up being about three different things," Wade said. "You weather it. It will be all right."

Wade, 30, missed 17 of 66 games last season. His left knee needed to be drained during the playoffs and eventually required surgery, forcing him to skip the Olympics. Nine games into this season, he is still slowed, averaging 16.9 points – his fewest since his rookie season – and making just 16.7 percent of his 3-point attempts. He has scored less than 10 points in two of the past three games.

Kobe is not nearly as athletic as he once was, yet he's still elite. Even after 17 years - which is unheard of by a guard in NBA history. Not even MJ was this good in his 17th year. Kobe also been to the Finals 7 times plus 8 other playoff runs. So the mileage is there. Kobe has played through many more injuries than Wade yet he still produced. Kobe's game is aging gracefully in his 17th year while D Fade's is falling off a cliff in his 10th. :lol

Wade just had a duel with a non-all star named Klay Thompson (http://espn.go.com/nba/player/_/id/6475/klay-thompson) (son of Laker great Michael Thompson BTW). Head to Head tell of the tape:

Klay Thompson - 11/21 FGAs (52.38%), 5-3ptrs, for his 27 points, 7 rebs, 4 assists, 2 stls, in 44 minutes (<-- non-T:lolSB minutes)
Wade - 5/11 FGAs (45% -probably all dunks tbh), 0 3ptrs, for his 14 points, 4 rebs, 5 assists, 3 stls, in 29 minutes (<-- T:lolSB minutes)

Klay Thompson almost doubled him up in points. Klay Thompson I thought Wade was an all league defender? He let some non-all star come to his house and take his c:lol:lolkie. Hell, without going 4-4 in his specialty (FTAs), he ends up with only 1:lol p:lolints. T:lolSB

not a huge Wade fan, but he is much better than some people want to give him credit for. If he isn't the best 2 guard in the league, he is just right behind Kobe, and not by a whole lot. Harden is probably #3 but he is a ways behind, until he can prove he can lead a team to the playoffs, and succeed as the #1 option of a playoff team. He has a lot to make up for after his disappearing act in the playoffs last year. He played well against the Mavs, then seemed extremely streaky after that.

Heat rest TOSB Wade because of his Punkass knees

PHILADELPHIA (AP) - Miami guard Dwyane Wade sat out the Heat's game Wednesday night against Philadelphia to rest his sore knees.

Heat coach Erik Spoelstra says he wanted to give Wade an extra day to recover and keep him out of the second game of the season-opening back-to-backs. Wade scored 13 points for the Heat in their 107-95 win over Chicago on Tuesday night.

Wade walked into the locker room with both knees wrapped in ice.

He's one of only four players to average at least 20 points, five rebounds and five assists last season, but knee problems during the playoffs have led to him fielding questions about his perceived decline.

Wade says there was no sense pushing it this early in the season. He says it's too early to think about sitting out the second game of back-to-backs the rest of the season.

What team would a shooter like Ray Allen not fit on? That was a reach..
Not really. He's in his 17th year, yet he's showing zero evidence of being a TOSB like your boy. 15ppg, 3.5rpg, 4apg on, get this: 50% shooting. :lmao at his numbers beasting Wade's. Like I said, he should be starting over D-Whistle. Spo don't have the balls to make det move tho.

Lance Stephenson (17.5ppg, 7.5rpg, 4.5apg on, get this: 62.5% shooting) is better than Wade right now. :lol

Wade is TOSB for a 31 yr old, tbh. Yeah, they played the worst team in the NBA and they expected it to be an easy game, but like you saw, every team will give the Heat their best and the wins will not always be that easy. I get the part about him resting for the playoffs, but it's the first half of the season, I don't see a reason to take off games unless he's really injured. Right now it's not a big deal, but it will affect their seeding come playoff time, and the home court advantage probably won't be there come ECF or Finals, could end up being pivotal, imo.

Y'all remember 98 Bulls, and they were going for their 3rd straight Finals at that time, the team was fatigued and didn't really look that dominant, but MJ carried them to a decent record, and they were down double digits in Game 7 vs Indiana.

I don't think they're done, just that after 3 straight Finals it will be a bit tougher for them. Lebron's the best player in the game and he has a good enough supporting cast to win, but their roster is getting older and soon enough another team will catch up to them. No one's gone to 4 straight Finals since the Bird's Celtics. MJ didn't, Shaq/Kobe didn't. Wade has had issues since 2012 and luckily for him, the Heat didn't need that much last season to reach the Finals, but this year could be different. Wade better be healthy, or your team will have a tough time making the Finals again, tbh.

Sources: NBA nowhere near agreeing to HGH policy

Outgoing commish David Stern is hoping that an agreement will be in place in time for the 2013-14 season. (USATSI)
With NBA training camps set to open at the end of the week, an important order of business remains unresolved: an agreement between the league and the players' association on a testing policy for human growth hormone.

As for outgoing commissioner David Stern's hope that a plan will be in place in time for the tipoff of the 2013-14 season, prepare to be disappointed.

Officials from the league office and National Basketball Players Association met earlier this month in New York to continue discussions on the matter, but a person familiar with the talks told CBSSports.com, "Nothing is anywhere near being agreed to." The negotiations are ongoing, but the gap may be too wide to close in time for a policy to be in place in time for the start of the regular season.

The impasse is hardly surprising, considering that the NFL has yet to move forward with an HGH testing plan that the league tentatively agreed to with the union in August. Implementation of the NFL's policy is in a holding pattern due to disagreements between the two sides on issues such as disciplinary procedures.

As part of that tentative agreement, NFL players were supposed to have submitted to blood collection during training camp for the purposes of establishing baseline levels of HGH to be used in determining levels for positive tests. Due to the ongoing dispute between the NFL and NFLPA over who will have final authority for HGH cases that go to arbitration, those blood samples were never taken.

Major League Baseball implemented an aggressive testing program for HGH this season and in August suspended 13 players, including the Yankees' Alex Rodriguez. All of the players received 50-game suspensions except Rodriguez, who was banned for 211 games. Rodriguez was the only player to appeal.

As part of the 2011 collective bargaining agreement, the NBA and NBPA appointed a panel of experts to study the issue of HGH testing and report its findings. A person with knowledge of the study told CBSSports.com that the panel's work is continuing. Among the matters at issue is the proper establishment of baseline levels, the reliability of blood screening for HGH and disciplinary procedures, league sources said.

The issue of biological passports -- the monitoring of biochemical markers in athletes to detect doping without positives tests for banned substances -- has taken a back seat in the NBA's talks over expanding its anti-drug agreement. The biological passport technique has yet to emerge as a significant aspect of negotiations between the league and union, sources said.

The NBA has maintained an anti-drug program since 1983 and currently has a list of approximately 160 banned substances ranging from recreational to performance-enhancing drugs. Players are subject to six random urine tests a year -- four to be conducted during the regular season and two during the offseason. The league does not screen for HGH, which must be analyzed from blood samples.

In July, Stern said he was hopeful that an HGH testing policy could be adopted in time for the start of the 2013-14 season. Afterward, the NBPA's interim executive director, Ron Klempner, told CBSSports.com that the absence of a permanent replacement for ousted former executive director Billy Hunter was not impeding progress in HGH talks with the league.

The union has since elected a new president, Chris Paul, who is leading the executive committee and union legal staff in the search for Hunter's permanent replacement.

Makes sense. When Miami loses, they're coasting. When they win, they're not. Some radical thinking right there.

If Vogel plays Hibbert in game 1 for the final possession, there's probably no game 7. If Pop plays Duncan, or Ginobili hits a free throw, there's NO game 7. You may have this notion that Miami is unbeatable, but they are.

I like how posters in this forum attribute Miami's losses to coasting. When a team scores 80 points in the 2nd and 3rd quarter, its hard to say with a straight face, the team was coasting.
