While I'm a newish baseball fan, I've been lead to believe the Yankees are the devil so I guess that's a good thing haha

That was a GOAT World Series, the Yanks got some undeserved love thanks to Osama Bin Laden, but failed anyways so thank goodness

True but still, made it even better seeing the Yanks lose in 7 with a walkoff win

Just watched the walk off, what a way to win their first pennant

2001 World Series is one of the best World Series in history and my lifetime. I'd put it up there with the 1993 World Series.

2001 WS is the GOAT WS but 2004 ALCS is the GOAT postseason series; even coming from a Boston hater

Canceled out by the Yankees' juicing tbh....

2001 was the peek of the steroid era tbh, every team was juicing :lol

Nothing is funnier than seeing hardcore Arizona sports homers get really butthurt at the notion that Luis Gonzalez was juicing.

The 1991 series was awesome too. Braves at Minny.

The 1996 one was very good too...that series turned on Jim Leyritz's HR off Wohlers. One of the most underrated and unlikely clutch hits in playoff history.

Braves could have started a dynasty if it wasn't for that HR. Wohlers was never the same and neither were the Braves.

Yup, Wohlers was nasty and intimidating...capable of throwing 101mph fastballs regularly. For some strange reason he kept feeding Leyritz sliders on that AB--and like you said he never recovered after that.

Still, 86 is the GOAT world series, even if half the winning team has done time. Not that seeing the announcers fellate Rivera as he's blowing game 7 wasn't funny.

Seeing Bonds come so close only to blow a 3-2 lead was good shit too.

Beat two superior teams in miraculous fashion in the AL playoffs and then lose the WS like that. OIC.

Hell of a series, though, I'll give you that.

Best WS of my lifetime, imo. Well, there was 1975, but I was crapping in my diapers at that time.

Sandy Alomar Jr was Capt. Clutch against the Yanks and O's. Mesa was the first culprit in the WS. Tony Fernandez was the 2nd. Lost in the shuffle is that 21-yr old rookie Jaret Wright pitched his ass off into the 7th inning. Bobby Bo finally got him though:)
