View Full Version : Chargers @ Saints - The Comeback Begins, Brees to break record, Payton in building

sons the comeback begins tonight. no other team in NFL history has been screwed over by an agenda ridden commissioner like the Saints have and it is only a miracle that they are still a competitive team this season. they have lost all of their first four games by only ONE score each (8pt, 8pt, 3pt, 1pt). they should be 2-2 or 3-1 right now if not for the replacement officials and two terribly blown calls last week that pushed the Packers to victory. no one is beating the Saints other than themselves and Roger Goodell. Coach Sean Payton will be attendance tonight and the best quarterback in the NFL will break yet another legendary NFL record. the win streak starts now.
Drew Brees is on the verge of breaking an NFL record that has stood for more than 50 years.
There's one number that matters to Brees, however, and that's leading the New Orleans Saints to their first win.
Poised to throw a touchdown pass in his 48th consecutive game, Brees looks to help the Saints avoid opening 0-5 for the first time in 16 years Sunday night when they host the San Diego Chargers.
Suspended New Orleans Saints coach Sean Payton will be in attendance at the Louisiana Superdome for Sunday night's game against the San Diego Chargers, league sources told ESPN NFL Insider Adam Schefter.

Nothing is going on with Jimmy. Defenses focus in on him and it allows all these other guys to get open. Going to happen sometimes when teams decide you will not be the one to beat them.

The Saints WRs don't get much separation right now and the o-line isn't good enough to block for long periods of time. Having Graham hurt doesn't help either, but teams are doubling him now and letting the Saints depend on the WRs. Also, Ingram is getting too many carries. He's the 4th best RB on this team. Ivory and Pierre are much better runners in between the tackles.

son the Saints losses all were within ONE score. no one is clearly beating them but themselves and some bonehead officiating in a couple of those games. they are going to be fine. will they dominate teams this season? very unlikely ... will they make the playoffs? its possible .... but they will be fine. the offense is starting to click and the defense looked better today (still not good, but better) than they have all season.

But they lost to mediocre teams as well. The Packers aren't that good. The Redskins, Chiefs, and Panthers are crappy overall. They just don't do alot of things well right now. O-line isn't blocking well, WRs aren't getting separation, Brees hasn't been his usual self, the defense has been bad, the starting DEs get no pass rush, Hartley is unreliable, and Ingram is getting carries when he shouldn't even dress. They really need to bench Will Smith and Ingram and try to establish more of a running game with Pierre and Ivory and go with Wilson and Gallette at DE because they can at least rush the passer.

son you're one of those Saints fans that is critical (and nothing wrong with that) ... but you're the type to say "I hope I'm wrong, but ..." ... and when they lose you say I told you so. however when they start winning you're right back on the team!
look everyone knows the Saints are struggling this season and it was expected due to the Goodell agenda, but they are nowhere near as bad as their 1-4 record shows. again all of their losses came by one score each (8, 8, 3, and 1) ... they could very easily be 3-2 or even 4-1 right now, but that's just how the cards were dealt.

I'm not being safe. I'm being honest. Big difference. You can't tell me that the Saints are playing well enough to be a playoff team. Of course anything can happen, but it has to actually happen. Sure this team can figure it out. But they have alot of holes to fill before it can happen.
son thank you for proving my point with that comment right there.
you're one of those "I hope I'm wrong, but ..." fans who plays the middle ground so that if the team sucks you can say "I told ya so" ... and if they start winning you can say "that's my Saints!!!"
oh and with your "it has to actually happen" comment ... son its only been 5 games. there are 11 games to go.
son where were you last week whenever the officials called a bogus holding call on the Saints to back up the field goal and cost them the game?
oh wait that's right ... you only bitch about the officials when we win. sit down bitch
I was red-zoning. This game was the only thing on, prime-time, and it seemed like it went into story-book mode. Brees gets the record, camera pans to Payton every 5 min. Norv starting effing up the script when he realized Mathews >>>>>>> Battle. As someone who was hoping for overtime, I figured maybe I was biased watching the offensive PI call and the ensuing hold. Michaels and Collinsworth seemed to agree however.

I'm more of a realist than you will ever be. I'm not playing it safe. Its called being prepared to be disappointed. You know what they say BR, "hope for the best, prepare for the worst." I'm not one of those incessant homers. If you want to be an eternal optimist, that's your choice. But I can sleep better at night. And blaming the refs for two of the losses is sour grapes when the team got more calls in the Packers game and lost to the crappy Chiefs. Sure this team is talented enough to make a deep run (not really), but this team looks alot more like 2007 than 2011. Good luck with you optimism. I will give you a shoulder to cry on in case this team disappoints you like they did in 2007 and 2008.

I am a Saints, Hornets, and LSU fan ... if you think that I am not critical of my teams then you obviously don't follow my post. I have been tremendously critical of the Hornets and LSU for the most part. The Saints on the other hand are the shining light of all three. I have never once said that the refs are the only reason they are 1-4 this season. you and others are attempting to put words in my mouth. I have said that the refs have cost the Saints a win or two this season, but the Saints are beating themselves and no other team has been thru what the Saints went thru this off season. I have stuck to that from the start.
you can try and spin it however you want, but you're the typical "I hope I'm wrong ... but" fan. you want to play both sides of the fence.

Obviously the Saints have faced adversity which is a huge reason for their play.
Being a realist isn't playing both sides of the face. Its being honest and talking about the flaws and strengths on this team. The Saints are a shining light, but that light got dimmed recently especially allowing Gregg Williams to do whatever he wants (he should have gotten fired after the Seattle loss. Cost them a Super Bowl with his play-calling that game and at San Fran), poor drafting in recent seasons and still not being able to field a competent defense. This same defense cost them a Super Bowl last year especially after having an unstoppable offense.

your idea of being a realist is playing both sides of the fence. my idea of being a realist is exposing facts. we need to agree to disagree and move on.
yes I agree about the Williams nonsense and the bullshit defense costing them another ring last season. however whenever the money is all tied up in the offense that is what happens. the Packers have the same problem.

What facts am I not exposing? I've exposed the facts all night. You choose to dismiss them. Sounds like you're not being a realist.

Sons, Vince Goodell and his team of scriptwriters clearly weren't going to allow the Chargers to spoil Brees' record party with Payton and Unitas' kid in the crowd.... but Norv should still be fired for just allowing the fix to happen so easily, tbh.... bring back the replacement refs...

Chargers need to move on from their oversized left tackle. He's had a history of mailing it in. He did it again tonight.

no you have exposed your OPINIONS ... not facts
I have stated the fact that the Saints have lost all of their games by less than 8 points and you turn the other cheek to it. your idea of "Facts" is your opinions.

I wasn't even bragging about the win dipshit. I was just talking about the Chargers left tackle Gaither. He has a history of mailing it in faking injuries and he did it again tonight. Overly sensitive tonight?
