This guy might be worth a look. He's got an outside stroke and some length. The Spurs' rotation is such that the backup 3 isn't going to get a lot of minutes, at least next season.

3 Slovenians on one team?

Plus there are two Slovenians in the draft. Perhaps five Slovenians on one team?

Not a bad idea at all. At least until we can get Nocioni away from Chicago in a few years ;)

Strength in numbers, perhaps.

Is he a restricted free-agent? If not, Rasho and Beno need to be on the first plane over to Slovenia to bring this guy to the team for cheap. He can shoot and has decent size.
Didn't he also take on Karl Malone in the playoffs when he was on the Rockets? That is a plus in my book.

He's unrestricted.

I believe he is unrestricted. Houston waived him early last season (which was a mild surprise) and then he signed with New Orleans for the remainder of the season.

I haven't seen anything from this guy to suggest he's worth a look for a championship team.

We do these "Free Agent: " threads every season. Marcus Bryant and timvp usually start a ton of them. Then people post in threads whether they want or don't want the player and why, make other suggestions, etc. It's part of the summer free agent fun.

He played pretty well in NO after Dickau got there, even starting a couple of times. Bostjan's only what, 25? Definitely worth discussing.

Quit posting like a bitch and I'll quit 'whining' like a bitch. I won't delete them, don't think I can, just let them fade away into post oblivion.
If it's tradition to post these - I've seen them before - then fine. But most of these players are pure crap. I guess that's my response, and maybe it generates some discussion. That's what we have to look forward to every off-season, either end: the "Tskitishvili is going to make it as a Spur!" threads and on the other side, the "obviously Tracy McGrady will be traded to us!" threads.
You want my opinion? We backup Bowen with a young SF from the draft who is willing to work hard, someone like Gelabele. It's the best thing we can do, and realistic.

:td to this guy. Spurs need a playya, not a project. We'll have enough of those. Repeating is the thing...

Great. They're crap. Then who should the Spurs be looking at, genius?

Re-read the initial post. I didn't say this guy was anything other than a project who would ride IR.

Oh good, a raw guy with limited skills. But you're being realistic.
As am I. Now shut up.

Big thumbs up to this guy.
Great outside shot, would be around fellow countrymen so the transition would be smooth.
Also is a pretty long armed guy and plays decent defense.

I don't recall Nachbar to be any good of a defender. Maybe he can be taught, but is he quick enough to be the long sought-after BB replacement (after a couple years).

I think so hes supposidly one of the most athletic players out of Europe recently. Great shot from outside. As someone touched on the D isnt there yet but he should have enough quickness to get in front of his man.
This is a long 3 and about as good as we can get if we need to split the MLE IMO

Yes Nachbar is very athletic. For his size he is really quick and he is a good shooter especially for 3. I just hope that he finds new club as fast as possible that he could play on European Championship

nachbar is probably the most athletic non-USA player in nba. far better than any stojakovic...
on shooting he´s still a bit unconsistent, but he has improved since he was TRADED to NO. his defence is improving amazing fast. sometimes he has shown some great games on the defence. a few times nailon was sitting a whole game, becouse nachbar was guarding carter, leBron, and others.
and the most important for you spurs fans:: he dunks a lot.. :lol
..but he said that he will probably sign a new contract for hornets. he will be their starting SF next seasons.

I hope he will not sign with Spurs, becouse he was unlucky enough so far. He could be second Kukoc if he had better coachs and his skills and speed was never qustioned. If he will sign for Spurs now, he will play only few mins and that will be his end as a bball player. I hope he will stay in NO for 2-3 years and will get big PT, so he could develop his game even further.

:lmao
That was my first reaction! :lol
If it happens I'll have to petition that we open a consulate in SA and apply for the post of liaison officer in charge of Spurs related matters :) (Obviously the job would command a set of season tickets in the VIP section - right next to Eva)
Seriously though I think Erazem Lorbek deserves a good look as draft pick up.

For the record, Nachbar was traded to the Hornets.
Gotta like the size -- if Pop can teach Hedo how to play D, you gotta think this guy could do ok.

Yes, Nachbar is very good shooter "from downtown". He can shoot also 5-5 from there. But I think he should stay for about 2-3 years in New Orleans because he must create a name in NBA. And then, after that, he can go to Spurs or any good team in NBA.

It would be very interesting if in the Spurs will be three Slovenian players.

True. He asked to be traded and according to him it was an amicable departure from Houston (although he did say that Yao will be the only person on the team that he'll miss).

Nachbar is probably one of the most talented players to come out of Europe in recent years. Great combination of size, speed and athleticism. Can shoot very well (far better than i would have imagined watching him when he was younger) and drive effectively. Has hands long enough to be a good shotblocker (i think one of his blocks was #1 play in the Euroleague one year) but not that sure about his footwork on defense or his will to even play it with consistency, i always thought of him as a pure offensive player. Had some great games in New Orleans ( http://sports.yahoo.com/nba/players/3613/gamelog ), can go from hitting 5 for 5 behind the arc to missing 10 shots the next. I think after sitting for 2 years with the Rockets, the thing he will look for the most in his contract is playing time. He got about 20 minutes a game with the Hornets and is probably going to get more if he resigns there. The Spurs would probably have to let go of Devin if they want to go after Nachbar, and even if they would be willing to do that, they probably couldn't really lure him in with 10-15 minutes a game which is about what would be relegated to him.

There is just one problem with Nachbar:
The greatest of his plays were in Europe with a Benetton team: run by Mike d'Antoni. Defense is for him still to learn. In Sagadin's game he was commendable 6th player.
Marcus Bryant

His size, athleticism and shooting touch make him a very intriguing free agent. With regards to minutes in SA, I would say that there could be about 20 minutes a night for him, if he was worthy of it.
The Big Chicken

Just give him minutes. He has fought for minutes in every team and was one of the best players when he left.
He didn't play sagadins game because Sagadin is an idiot. Rasho also didn't play much when he was a coach.

Boston would save a ton of $ I believe if the left this guy go. I don't know if they will make that choice until late July. He would be an excellent back-up and the things he does will not always appear in the status. Spurs than could trade Rasho and get something for him.
I like Raef Lafrentz.
I wonder if Doc and his assistant P Pressey would take Rasho? :lol
Raef is much better than Nachbar

Word is Nachbar is all but resigned by the Hornets, supposedly to a 3 year deal. I would speculate for somewhere between 8-10 million.

I don't see it. I have not been impressed with him. When he was first drafted, I thought he would do well. But that is when foreign players were being overhyped. I don't think he will be a solid player. I think their are better options out there. I would much rather have Brown and Johnson. And Mundt is right about NO getting him back. And if he barely even got 20 mins on NO, there is no way he is getting 20 mins here. He would see action in 10-15 games and would average 10 mins.

That's a huge deal for Nachbar -- I figured he could've been had for the minimum -- LLE at the very most.

Nah, all this info will be coming out in the next few weeks. I don't know when the new CBA will be up - it has yet to be finalized. The cap and exception amounts will be known July 22.

It is already finalized isn't it? How else can they be making these contract offers if they don't know the guidelines?

The basic guidelines are in place. Offers can be made but they can only be accepted in principle since the exact amounts aren't known.
