View Full Version : Future All-Star?

We've seen him play a couple of games with us, so it maybe too early to say, but do you see De Colo becoming a potential All-Star type player sometime in the future? Discuss.

Nawh. I see him being in Manu's shadow and a lot of people will always see him as a "replacement Manu". I'm not saying that he can't become an All-Star, he will just have to prove himself for some time even after Manu is gone. Despite this, I would to see him become an All-Star type of player, just as many would love to see Kawhi become the future of the Spurs.

No, De Colo is not going to be an All-Star. Flash has always been his strength and that's what is catching everyone's eye right now. I'm still not convinced he has enough skill to be an everyday NBA player ... much less an All-Star.

De Colo's ceiling is probably as a really good third guard. But I still say it's 50/50 that he has an NBA career. He's not amazingly skilled, not a world class athlete and efficiency is always going to be an issue. Those are three obstacles he'll have to overcome and it won't be easy. 50/50 might even be generous.

Ginobili was a totally different story. He is/was amazingly skilled. If you factor in his lightning quick reflexes and his overall flexibility, in his prime I'd say he was a world class athlete. Ginobili had inefficiency issues early on in his career a little bit but he had enough to overcome that.

Won a Euroleague title before coming over, too.

What do you think about De Colo compared to Rubio? Alot of people doubted on Rubio as well.

Ok, he was screwed out of the AS twice in his career but most other years, Pop has screwed his chances of making AS teams by playing him off the bench. To make 2 AS games in his position is an AMAZING feat.

Going on the record with an emphatic "no". That said, he's way better in pre-season than I thought he'd be. From watching his international play, I didn't think he had the footspeed, shooting touch or ball handling ability to make it in the NBA. I'd certainly love it if he proved me wrong.

Unlikely but not impossible. De Colo has the talent to be something special.

I'm actually surprised at how good the Spurs draft, tbh... Compare to the Bulls which collapsed when MJ and Pippen left.

Given a sample size of three preseason games where he has played fairly well, I think it is totally cool to try and predict what type of NBA career he will have. BTW why isn't Gary Neal leading the league in scoring while shooting 80% from 3?

lmbebo

Kid has got amazing vision but nowhere near the hops Manu does. I have yet to see a dunk online actually. Not the same type of player as Manu is. I just hope his nuts hang in the clutch. sjax style. we need that. Would love him develop into an all star but its extremely unlikely.

People also said Rubio didn't have the footspeed but he's smart and crafty enough with his defense. I think De Colo can do the same thing.

I don't think TS is saying he's an all-star, he's just talking about De Colo's upside. I think it's pretty normal to talk about how good one of your players might turn out to be. I see more of a Ricky Rubio upside to him. Might not be as good, we'll find out how his game transitions to the NBA.

DeColo can be one of the guys who just look better because they play with great team players like the Spurs have a ton of. I doubt he will be an All-Star, but in this Spurs team he may play better than expected by anyone ...

Absolutely not. He'll be lucky if he ever gets a starting role in the league. No backup is going to be an Allstar, especially as long as Lin is in the same conference.

Maybe in the NBA but how many international championships/medals has he led his team to before he entered the NBA. Manu was already accomplishing all those by the time he entered.

hows rubios fg efficiency? i think decolo will score more, while his other stats would be below rubios....then again rubio is only concern with making sportscenter...lets see how he plays in the 6-8weeks Love is out with a broken hand...

Difficult to predict anything now tbh. Perhaps mid season. The Spurs are high on him, he got a better contract than Neal. Neal is a legit NBA player.
