Well, it's TX, no surprise. TX is a "Christian" state, not a secular state.

Would TX AG have sided with Muslim cheerleaders with Koranic verses?

It seems free speech advocates would be happy with this result. Perhaps some folks are not as liberal as they pretend.

It's only free speech when they agree with it.

"Christian" Taleban, "Christian" supremacists are super pleased that their religion is preferred and exalted, and one more nail in the Separation clause. Students representing a taxpayer highschool on taxpayer property pimping the Bible.

Ignorance is never a position of strength. Instead of trying to eliminate religion from schools, we should have classes that contrast and compare the various religions including athiesm.

The world will always be at war until we learn what drives one another, how one another thinks, and why. This embrace to the isolation of knowledge is the muscle that ends up supporting dicatatorships.

"we should have classes that contrast and compare the various religions including athiesm."

The "Christians" wouldn't stand for it, esp not itn TX. They want only the Bible taught, and all it fairy tales as science.

Academic, comparative religion studies are more often at the college level, not at HS level, and certainly not at gradeschool level.

Agreed. Those of us that are rational atheists don't give a shit what a cheerleader squad does in a 2 bit town.

TeyshaBlue

I John 8:23 "And verily I say unto you. Blake is a knucklehead."

Pretty sure that was it.:p:

Actually, I think it was "I can do all things thru Christ who strengthens me".

You and I are going to get along just fine. They teach mythologies in english class. they can fit Yahweh in with Zeus. What they do not need is a theology class in what is supposed to be a secular state. You can have your churches and your fairy tale pow-wows but I would just as soon not have my son proselytized on the states dime.

Make no mistake I am a devout christian. But as a christian I know my deeds are the representation of my faith. I do not believe that you can or should force a belief on anyone including the belief in atheism.

There's no "belief in atheism". That's like saying, "a belief in a lack of belief in god/s"

I can see why these cheerleaders are getting crucified.

Yeah, if it's a school sponsored event, they shouldn't be allowed to hang that particular verse.

Nor should you force your nonbelief in atheism, nonbeliever.

I could get into grammar and how negation works but i do not feel like going around in circles with the christian fundamentalist's current semantic playbook.

What if someone who is not a Christian would like to be a cheerleader, but she feels like she can not because she does not agree with these verses?

I am a person of faith and my kid even went to religious schools, and they did not even do this. They prayed that the athletes would be safe and free from injury.

God is more of a title, and not a name.

Do you mean Jehova, or Zeus? Aries? Baal?

Which God are you referring to since you didn't say Gods?
