At present, HGH is banned in the NBA, but the league does not test players' blood for it.

Interesting. I was always under the impression that there was an extensive testing procedure in place, which explained the fact that so few NBA players ever engaged in doping. But obviously, I was wrong. Given the knowledge that the NBA doesn't test for HGH, I'm certain that Dwyane Wade has used it at various points in his career (the bizarre, expanding jaw line is a good indicator), and it's certainly possible that other players have as well.

The NBA has always dismissed doping as being pretty unhelpful to NBA players looking for competitive advantage, but it seems like post players especially, and all players to some extent, might stand to benefit from PEDs.

I'd be willing to predict that the NBA will have a doping scandal on its hands some time in the next 4-5 years.

Like every other sport, roids/HGH are great for recovery. It's ridiculous to think that the NBA is clean. Blood testing should be an important component of every major league

Honestly wouldn't be surprised if only Dirk and Durant don't use PEDs out of the NBA 'stars'.

if these guys were using PEDS, how come during the olympics and WC they dont get tested? or are they immune from drug testing?

Serious question - normally when I think about HGH I think of white and eastern European athletes. Not normally the African American athlete.

Is it because they don't often get tested in the sports they excell at?

If you're a borderline NBA player, you'd have to be dumb not to be using HGH. Sure, there's health side effects or whatever but that's a potential advantage that you'd have to accept. The risk vs. reward is too much in your favor to not take the steroids.

Bullshit. Most top tier players would be using it too, based on your rational....

"On a scale of 1 to 10, how big of an issue is illegal enhancing in the NBA?"

Derrick Rose: " Seven. It's huge and I think we need a level playing field where nobody has that advantage over the next person."

NBA would be much more boring without it imo. Makes the sport more exciting. lol at the dumb gangbanger crying that the playing field needs to be leveled. is that why he had someone take his SATs for him? :lol

Whatever PED problem was there already I could believe that it took a big jump last year and is poised to continue. There were all those injuries with the crazy compressed schedule. Guys would want to get back in the game, their replacements would want to stay healthy at all costs - either scenario offers plenty of motivation to cut a few corners to help their bodies recover more quickly, especially for the guys way down the depth chart. On top of that with the new CBA contracts are shorter, money's tighter. Players (theoretically) won't be getting 100 million dollar contracts on the potential shown in two good years of play. They'll need to protect, and extend, their primes if they want to get to the real big money.

not an issue when the vast majority of players are using it. bron is the league's best player and the report might be positive if he's tested, but it doesn't mean the rest of untested players are clean imho. e.g. lance armstrong, the 7 time tour de france winner who was earlier revealed a drug user, was definitely not the only athlete who used drugs in that sport. in olympic games only the medal winners will receive blood tests for drugs

Doping makes sports more enjoyable. 1998-2001 was especially good for baseball.

Not exactly can be said for cycling, even if nobody really gives a shit about it as a whole.
